Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
Smart, and what about all the people that do work to support themselves, have always worked to support themselves but are on a low wage and just need some help with their rent and council tax, I suppose it's just tough shit really huh, you lot on here are so savage and self important. I hope you have your jobs for life because one day you might need the help.
And it is us the people that pay to have a welfare system, it is our money that keeps it alive, not the Government that convinces you all that it is theirs and you cant have it, they want to take not give.
It is the foreign policy of it that is disgraceful and needs changing.
Why don't you all just uproot yourselves and move because you cannot afford the thieving council tax, it's very funny really isn't it.
Council tax benefit is a lifeline for most claiming it and loosing it is the difference between a roof over your head and dying in the street.
All you all go on about is scroungers and spongers, most people are working hard but on a low income and did not ask to have the shit that this system is forced onto them, but the ignoramus self important support it till the death.
Most of the austerity is a direct result of funnelling our money to the EU, rich evil bastards that couldn't care less if your dead in the street next week or able to donate all your hard earned, worked for cash like good little slaves should do.
Not all people that claim help with council tax are scroungers, just people caught in the system trap.

Hopefully for the majority of you people on here they will become homeless and die, then you can all stop your selfish moaning while you sit in your heated homes with food on the table no having to worry how to pay the next bill. Always those that have plenty and are OK that moan the most about those that have less.
No wonder this world is just a resemblance of hell, creating heaven was just too much for you, beyond your capability, because caring is not cool enough! And speaking of which, you moan about the poor, yet you allow this government to do all sorts of taxation on you and still you sit on your arses and just take it, do nothing but attack the less well off.
I work and am able to support myself, and if I cannot, then I will claim for some help and not feel ashamed of it, after all, I paid in it all my life to get it if I should ever need it, and thank God we have it.

rant
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33889925

Dude i think you are missing the point, people like you are clearly not the problem. The welfare state should exist to help people help themselves.

Its the people taking you and me and the government as mugs as a lifestyle choice that are the issue.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33792358

Most of that is deliberate brainwashing to make you accept the demise of the welfare system and level it out to be like that hellhole Amerika.
I do not object to paying tax to help families on a low income however the circumstances bought them to it, I do however resent paying the military to kill for their governments, the EU greed/ power fest, the foreign policy so called aid system and people from abroad who have children in other countries that get paid from our benefits system.
Social housing was meant for the less well off, but even that is too expensive, if it were not then there would be a minimal welfare system dependency. The truth is that the cost of living is too high and people cannot make it. It is circumstantial. You cannot have a world and country full of millions of people and not expect some of them to be less than perfect, it is the system that is the fucking problem.
No one can go down the road and opt out of it and live free from the true scroungers and leeches, those that put themselves into positions of control over you while they rob you every which way you can imagine, but still blame others.
I give up, you are too brainwashed to see the truth, but feel better for smacking down the poor who already have it shit, so be it, go for it, you all got to feel better at someone's expense!

People living on benefits pay no taxes. How can they?

They are given for nothing £100s and then someone takes £10 off them and somehow they paid tax?

Its laughable.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12546839

Everyone pays tax, it is called VAT, tax on food, clothing, fuel, in fact the entire retail industry is another means of tax, no one avoids it. Even the poor have to pay council tax because the bricks in their house cannot pay whether it is owned by them or not.
It is this ignorance that there is no excuse for, the only tax the poor'est' don't pay is income tax. But you know what, they pay no insurance either and know that they will be homeless when they retire, so they get the shit whichever way you look at it. That should cheer you up no end.

They already tax everyone (including working families and pensioners) on the number of rooms we have in the house, its called council tax.

Perhaps all people living in council housing should pay at least some council tax, rather than being exempt from council tax.

At the end of the day though it is the children that loose out all the time as they are pushed from one place to another and in some cases being blamed for having to move (due to the children being less than 10 years old and no longer entitled to two bedrooms for the two children.

Carpet, stop being so self righteous go out there and give all your inherited money to them, and see what they think of you. You're just trolling this thread.

Oh and by the way, being self employed and from a state education I see your 100k and raise you, that one statement alone proves what an arse you are smug fucker

Either you are lying or you really are scrounging everywhere.

Lying about your bank account isn't necessary. I know it may seem to be because society attaches status to financial funds, but it's not.

Also, after stating that on an open forum, you may want to check your firewall.

I think they should stop paying out actual cash to claimants.

Pay out food stamps / food parcels based on what nutritionists say is the minimum needed per week.

Directly pay rent to landlords / councils

Give them tokens for the laundrette and a bus pass and library card to look for work.

I know what you are saying and agree. Unfortunately, you can't make sense to morons or those with entitlement issues.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1550123

Are you another one that thinks state funded schools are not an entitlement?

If the state pays for it, and you take it (for over a decade of education too! That is a lot of money to educate your children for you.), it's an entitlement.

You can't pick and choose which ones you take and then call the people that take other ones scroungers unless you are a huge hypocrite.
Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet

Government should not be in the business of education because they are nothing more than indoctrination centers.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33730709

So true. That is why homeschooling is on the rise. And government was never really in the education business. All they wanted was the 'serfs' to be able to read and write some in order to work in their factories. They really never wanted them to think. Government schools are really working over time to dumb down the population. They are getting most of them on welfare now which means they will control them even more.

Are you having a laugh, we, my parents and grand parents paid tax as well as do I, and as I said I'm fucking sick and tired of paying so fucking much of my earned money to spongers. Teachers are a fucking joke, try and take my kid on holiday and they threaten you with a fine, but Ho, it's alright for them to go on strike and expect me to find someone to have them or take a day off and lose money.

Here's one for you, you wanted to be a teacher, stop whining. If you dont like it go and get a job in the real world same as the rest of us. If i dont like a job i get a new one, if a job doesnt pay enough i get a new one. Labour spent all the money and then some, bet that joke from Liam Byrne isn't so fucking funny now is it. so much in fact my kids will still be paying it , and they're in primary school.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32878929

What's next?
Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet

How is it free if I am paying thousands per year in taxes?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33730709

That is because it isn't. Education is not free as long as they take people's taxes to fund it. Everything the government does is never for free. It always comes with strings attached.

Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet

But the point of state education is it allows those willing to put the effort in to progress into high paying jobs such as lawyers, doctors etc.

Those high paying jobs have higher tax contributions so when they have a job earning 100k a year, they have paid for their entire state funded education within a couple of years in tax contributions alone.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33792358

First, I am talking about all of the years prior to college and university. That's a good decade per child of teachers, books, school buildings, etc, etc, etc.

With your argument you could also say that state funded food creates more energy to look for jobs, or state funded housing creates more clean and energetic people to work, or state funded health care creates happier healthier people that can work longer hours.

And yet, you only attach it to state funded education.
The fact that you think a state funded education will lead to 100k a year is laughable, but I will leave you with that fantasy carrot.

Parent funded food, education and housing also supposedly create those things; just FYI.

Why is education different in your mind? Why do you think it is so special exactly? Should the children learn to be dependent on government for their information from the start?

If those children never ate, would their minds have the fuel to learn in the schools? If they didn't get good rest would they learn or fall asleep at their desks? If they were ill and could not access a doctor, would that change their ability to learn?

You take one little thing and say "oh this entitlement is the only one we need, this one is fine to scrounge off of", but you forget that you are a complete person that needs more than a government funded teacher to indoctrinate them....you also forget that it is still scrounging. That shiny education apple fell from the same tree as the housing apple. Look up.
You hate that tree for taking your money, you hate that tree for giving to others. Why do you trust that tree with your mind and the minds of your children?

What, you think that all their money is going on drugs and alcohol, and how dare they, they must be controlled to ensure they get their rations just as the government says so.

Instead of giving £50, get a token printed up and distributed for another £50 making the total £100, real smart for megalomaniacal control methods. Better still, why not just bring back the workhouses and give them porridge.

But this has digressed, why should people who take from the system be upset when the system bites back, so what, your in your 60's lived in your house since you were 20ish raised your kids etc and now they ask you to leave or pay something for the wasted space you reaped the benefit for 40 + years

Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
I think they should stop paying out actual cash to claimants.

Pay out food stamps / food parcels based on what nutritionists say is the minimum needed per week.

Directly pay rent to landlords / councils

Give them tokens for the laundrette and a bus pass and library card to look for work.

OOOOH YOU CANT DO THAT ITS DEMEANING.

GET A FUCKING JOB! IF YOU CANT FIND ONE BORROW A FUCKING SET OF HEDGE TRIMMERS OR MANUAL PRUNERS AND KNOCK ON PEOPLES DOORS OFFERING TO CUT THEIR PRIVETS FOR 3/4 QUID AN HOUR.

And to produce all that would cost a lot more, all because you think the level of control is not steep enough. Cash or tokens, what's the difference other than controlling someone's life to buggery costing the shitty system even more.
What, you think that all their money is going on drugs and alcohol, and how dare they, they must be controlled to ensure they get their rations just as the government says so.
FFS, you people get worse and worse.
Instead of giving £50, get a token printed up and distributed for another £50 making the total £100, real smart for megalomaniacal control methods. Better still, why not just bring back the workhouses and give them porridge.

I think we need to give caplocks AC those tokens.
It is clear they have been drinking and typing again.
We only want to make sure they are behaving properly and are taking care of themselves. An apple would be much healthier than whatever booze that may be.

FFS...

Just quit lying, you act like a scrounger, you have sucked off the tax tit for years to be educated, you are a scrounger my dear. Even here on GLP. So why do you hate on your own kind? What is your problem?

So, you are intelligent enough to make 100k a year, and yet stupid enough to willingly hand over your thoughts to the US government.

On top of that you are self hating. You do understand that the only reason you are wonderfully wealthy today is because someone educated, for free, a child that they had no investment in and that was not giving back to the community, and that they did this for well over a decade? No. You don't. I wonder why.

Wow, you are quite the mix, aren't you?
I think we got this one perfect.
