Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
I think they should stop paying out actual cash to claimants.

Pay out food stamps / food parcels based on what nutritionists say is the minimum needed per week.

Directly pay rent to landlords / councils

Give them tokens for the laundrette and a bus pass and library card to look for work.

OOOOH YOU CANT DO THAT ITS DEMEANING.

GET A FUCKING JOB! IF YOU CANT FIND ONE BORROW A FUCKING SET OF HEDGE TRIMMERS OR MANUAL PRUNERS AND KNOCK ON PEOPLES DOORS OFFERING TO CUT THEIR PRIVETS FOR 3/4 QUID AN HOUR.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33792358

And to produce all that would cost a lot more, all because you think the level of control is not steep enough. Cash or tokens, what's the difference other than controlling someone's life to buggery costing the shitty system even more.
What, you think that all their money is going on drugs and alcohol, and how dare they, they must be controlled to ensure they get their rations just as the government says so.
FFS, you people get worse and worse.
Instead of giving £50, get a token printed up and distributed for another £50 making the total £100, real smart for megalomaniacal control methods. Better still, why not just bring back the workhouses and give them porridge.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33889925

Hey dick head it's been done before it was called rations and it was all people had,FFS

So stop with the bullshit, or would it mean you couldn't get fags, and a flat screen and Sky won't take coupons
 Quoting: F F S

That was the end of a engineered war and was universal. And people who can afford sky TV and big TV's to watch it on are cheating in one way or other. You don't really believe people can afford all that on benefits, and that is whet is needed, to stop the cheats.
It is always self evident in the end that those at the top are the densest and most of their wealth is corrupted wealth. Go figure.

Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
It's not as drastic as OP is making out. Basically people in social housing, with more bedrooms than they use will be asked to pay up or relocate. They will be allowed to sublet the spare room to cover the tax if they choose to. I agree with OP's sentiment but this is not the spark we need.
 Quoting: NSF001

They won't be "asked" to pay, they'll be told.
And they'll be "allowed" to sublet.

Geezuz, being a subject must be nauseating.
 Quoting: Professor Xavier

Bear in mind this only applies to government subsidised housing. You own your house you can have ten spare bedrooms if you like. Imagine it was across the board though, think of the bill for Buckingham palace
 Quoting: NSF001

This is the tories we are talking about, don't you worry, if they can think of a way of taxing private owners with less than five bedrooms while excluding themselves they will.
This will just be a test to see how it goes just as Scotland was introduced to the poll tax first.

Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
Smart, and what about all the people that do work to support themselves, have always worked to support themselves but are on a low wage and just need some help with their rent and council tax, I suppose it's just tough shit really huh, you lot on here are so savage and self important. I hope you have your jobs for life because one day you might need the help.
And it is us the people that pay to have a welfare system, it is our money that keeps it alive, not the Government that convinces you all that it is theirs and you cant have it, they want to take not give.
It is the foreign policy of it that is disgraceful and needs changing.
Why don't you all just uproot yourselves and move because you cannot afford the thieving council tax, it's very funny really isn't it.
Council tax benefit is a lifeline for most claiming it and loosing it is the difference between a roof over your head and dying in the street.
All you all go on about is scroungers and spongers, most people are working hard but on a low income and did not ask to have the shit that this system is forced onto them, but the ignoramus self important support it till the death.
Most of the austerity is a direct result of funnelling our money to the EU, rich evil bastards that couldn't care less if your dead in the street next week or able to donate all your hard earned, worked for cash like good little slaves should do.
Not all people that claim help with council tax are scroungers, just people caught in the system trap.

Hopefully for the majority of you people on here they will become homeless and die, then you can all stop your selfish moaning while you sit in your heated homes with food on the table no having to worry how to pay the next bill. Always those that have plenty and are OK that moan the most about those that have less.
No wonder this world is just a resemblance of hell, creating heaven was just too much for you, beyond your capability, because caring is not cool enough! And speaking of which, you moan about the poor, yet you allow this government to do all sorts of taxation on you and still you sit on your arses and just take it, do nothing but attack the less well off.
I work and am able to support myself, and if I cannot, then I will claim for some help and not feel ashamed of it, after all, I paid in it all my life to get it if I should ever need it, and thank God we have it.

rant
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33889925

Dude i think you are missing the point, people like you are clearly not the problem. The welfare state should exist to help people help themselves.

Its the people taking you and me and the government as mugs as a lifestyle choice that are the issue.

Family and friends are the crutch not the government.

If i lost my house and everything id pitch a fucking tent in my friends garden for a few months or move back in with my parents find a job cleaning fucking toilets if i have to until i had enough for a deposit.

When the government becomes the crutch it gives too much help to buy votes.

Vested interest. Its like giving prisoners the vote, they will vote for whoever gets them out sooner.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33792358

You're too fucking stupid to vote, a liability, stay home and watch soaps instead.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33889925

So someone who supports himself and takes no handouts is a liability? Now that is rich.

I met someone that worked and lived in council housing because I guess they got into the housing when they were poorer. Their place was full of consumer junk. It was kind of claustrophobic to be honest. I was happy to cut the visit short.

My guess would be a lot of people are like that: they work some, they are unemployed some, then they work again. They probably feel like they have been lacking and buy useless products which could have been money better spent, but that is what the feeling of deprivation does to many people.
As you can see from the people on this thread, most have been on benefits or are currently on benefits, but they worked before or after receiving them and will go on and on with pride about their assets they had while working. Thus they see themselves as "success stories" or "not a bad scrounger" stories. Chances are they are not really that special and they are just made to feel so because they mistakenly believe the "everyone receiving benefits is on them for life" stereotype.

FFS...

Just quit lying, you act like a scrounger, you have sucked off the tax tit for years to be educated, you are a scrounger my dear. Even here on GLP. So why do you hate on your own kind? What is your problem?
Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet

Oh dear. Have I hit a nerve, tell me why should I pay for the privelige of having all my comments handed over to the US government when I can still have that for free. Free is an option

And once again, no, i'm not a scrounger I put a shit load more into the system than I take out. But this has digressed, why should people who take from the system be upset when the system bites back, so what, your in your 60's lived in your house since you were 20ish raised your kids etc and now they ask you to leave or pay something for the wasted space you reaped the benefit for 40 + years
 Quoting: F F S

So, you are intelligent enough to make 100k a year, and yet stupid enough to willingly hand over your thoughts to the US government.

On top of that you are self hating. You do understand that the only reason you are wonderfully wealthy today is because someone educated, for free, a child that they had no investment in and that was not giving back to the community, and that they did this for well over a decade? No. You don't. I wonder why.

Wow, you are quite the mix, aren't you?
I think we got this one perfect.
Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet

Just because you removed the section where you tried to have a go at me for earning money and disbelieving because I wasn't a member don't try and turn it around. I could give a fuck about who knows what I think, i stand by my statements, but as stated why should I pay for the privelige when it can be free, so who's the idiot.

We could go around the houses all day about my education, but you obviously never realised something, school like driving lessons is about getting you through exams and fuck all about education, you know you only 'learn' to drive after you've passed your test, however that isn't what the thread is about is it. It's about people who take from tax payers and are now upset that they have to give something back

What people need to understand here is that it is not social housing that is being bedroom taxed, it is benefits that are being taxed. If you are in social housing as I myself am, I am in a housing association house. If you claim no benefits, you can have many rooms and the tax man could not care less, it is the benefits that are being clawed back, you will loose 20% of your benefits per spare room you have. It s a poorest person tax.
But it will free up the housing for immigrants as people are herded around to avoid the lifeline tax.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32459901

Get real. Yes those people exist but there will be thousands of families around the country that will face having to move out of the house which their children have grew up in due to them not being able to afford this 'tax'. How is that fair?

Interesting point about removing the bed... Surely slimy osbourne will have a work around for that.

I wonder where the real spark will come from?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2293376

If your children spent their entire lives in a government funded house then you should be thankful and ready to allow another family the same benefit. Housing is in short supply and family houses should be housing families with children at home. Those who want to keep the house their children grew up in should have tried to buy their own, to expect the taxpayer to fund your memories is pretty rude.

Carpet we are never going to agree, I've tried to explain to you, others have explained to you, my parents and grandparents paid they're tax, I was5 when I started school, guess what I didn't have a lot of say in it, but I think tax had been paid. There is also a difference to then and now, my parents and g/parents would never take what is taken now

You failed to read my posts where I stated that Beveridge would be spinning in his grave if he could see what a bloated self serving pile of shit his plan had become.

Just because I went to a state shool doesn't mean I have to continue paying tax for people to live in a 3/4 bedroom house and only use 1 room and if you really believe that I despair for this world.

Yeah, I'm sure there are a few bending the rules, just like rules are bent in everything. I just don't think it is so easy to define who is a cheat and who has just lived their life. Chances are most cheating is for small sums anyway. Benefits aren't exactly great riches to begin with.

It seems people can stay in council housing regardless of income changes, and I think many do as a safety net, especially considering it is so hard to get into in the first place. I can't fault them for it, just because they are working this month doesn't mean the job will still be there in five years, but their family to support probably still will be. But because of that I can't exactly say "That one has a nice car, they must be stealing from me."

Really, the whole thing looks more like a diversion to move the mind away from the reality of over taxation. Like, "Oh, look, that mum just ran away with a fiver!" while they're robbing the bank behind you.

Money is the root of all evil, and in this thread it is proved one of the most accurate quotes of all time.
Money means more than life and the life of others, and it is not even real, it is just a concept created by men with power to have advantage over everyone else. People destroy life for it and pit their wits against each other for and over it. Just like your jobs, you defend your position for a wage which that wage just makes your employer rich while you accept a small fund for your time to get you stuff that can be had without it at all!!!

Insanity is too big to be seen in this Earth asylum.

Just remember all you entitlement retards who will be protesting..... you will probably be the first people the police horses trample to death and the first people screaming and complaining at the TV cameras about how they cant do this to you when the rubber bullets, water canons and tear gas starts flying.

The government wont listen to you because they dont give a fuck what you think, all they ever wanted was your votes and now the money has ran out they dont give a shit what you smash up, but they will beat the shit out of you till you learn your place.

They'll probably float ships on the thames to use as prisons for you retards.

Deal with it plebs. Oh and dont forget, you ruined it for all of us.

If on the off chance you listen to any advice and i doubt you will, hedge your wealth now and when the collapse comes shut the fuck up, play dumb, dont take sides and look just as hungry and down as everybody else.

So where does Bob Crow on a remuneration package in excess of 150k fit into that, hardly likely to need it as a safety net, and if he does he should have put more of his package aside, he might not be claiming benefits yet he is taking social housing from someone who is much more deserving, so in essence he is even worse

Not necessarily working, I can't see how they would do that unless it were cash in hand. I think in all honesty that is true, but mostly women with children are claiming to be single when they have undeclared partners is the biggest form of cheating, it cannot be proven unless private investigators are on it, but that would surely cost too much.
Most people eat, drink and think TV and media, stereotypes are all they know, they regurgitate and live it every day, so one person claiming a benefit is scrounger and so are they all, the youth mind.

People should riot due to being forced to use a fiat currency.

Never mind tax, never mind the politicians, the whole FUCKING game is rigged against you. Ignorant buffoons squabble and get upset over the details, while the intelligent realise that at this point, it's a just a matter of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Hun, you benefited from that education.
You learned how to work within the system to get your money.
You want to take that away from others because they are not you and you think you are special and that somehow what you take weighs less on the populace than what other people take. You have to acknowledge your roots. You have to acknowledge the society that gave you your life. I'm sorry, but it's true. I know you hate them, but you came from them. You're not special, you're not the only success story. Look around you at the other workers. How many of them had the same roots?

When you harvest a flower you are meant to tap the spores out so that they can take root as well. You are not meant to stomp on the earth and claim it is now trash because you no longer need it yourself.

How do you think I feel coming from the people that bring you some of the most fucked up shit in history? I don't deny they exist. I don't deny that I have attachments to them, and they are literally the scum of the fucking earth.

Don't forget where you came from, and if something good came out of it, don't trash it for the next people. Someone out there living a life of abject poverty without one thing that you had is a whole lot worse than feeding some worthless slouchers their junk food and bad television.

FIAT "money", created by Rothschild Banksterists out of thin air, and loaned, at interest, to national governments, so that debt can never be repaid, is to blame.

REAL money, ie. commodity-backed, zero-interest money created by national Treasuries, is what we need.

However, all US Presidents that went down that road were either assassinated, or the assassination attempt failed (but the message got through).

drevil

It's International Zionistic Banksters that have caused all the suffering and horror in this world.

At this stage of the game, that is simply undeniable.

So where does Bob Crow on a remuneration package in excess of 150k fit into that, hardly likely to need it as a safety net, and if he does he should have put more of his package aside, he might not be claiming benefits yet he is taking social housing from someone who is much more deserving, so in essence he is even worse

I think I already stated my opinion on government spending when I said that taxes will never go down even if they stop funding the poor. It's robbery.

...

Do you think most of the people with decent televisions are cheats or that they work?

People better be on guard, how long will it be before they start taxing the spare seats in your cars?!
I see most cars have four or so spare seats and only one occupant, It will benefit the environment thought, so not necessarily a bad thing.
Unused clothes and shoes in the wardrobe, uneaten food in the cupboard, or a tax on the fill level of your food waste bins... unused parking space next to your homes...
Why do you think they relaxed the building regulations on extensions and conservatories, they intend to tax them later.

in fact, the government will kick you out into a one bedroom high rise shithole flat where all of the eastern european migrants are, and they will be given YOUR home instead.

i swear, if that happens, there will be riots and bloodshed everywhere.
