I was told that Helium from Texas is being rerouted to US Military for weapons
If any one else has any way to check this or can explain what weapons use helium. I don't think this is a secret as the manufacturer is canceling non military orders.

Explains the power outage at the super bowl. Major pipelines go through New Orleans.

I know there is a mass shortage, I have not been able to find out why, some say we are just running out, I doubt that.
Others say it is the best thing for painless end of life. I doubt that would use it all up.
My daughter is florist manager for major chain store and they are having a hard time finding it.

Bump for more info.

i posted a thread a couple of weeks ago about the helium shortage - it was nationwide they were reporting. I wanted to know what helium is used for but i never did find out

Earth's supply of accessible helium is running out, one of these days you won't have it wasted in balloons anymore, because that shit is needed for medical, industrial and apparently military purposes

Maybe we'll finally get serious about space, since "Although it is rare on Earth, Helium is the second most abundant element in the known Universe" says wiki

Re: I was told that Helium from Texas is being rerouted to US Military for weapons
from wikipedia
emphasis mine:

Helium is the second lightest element and is the second most abundant element in the observable universe, being present at about 24% of the total elemental mass, which is more than 12 times the mass of all the heavier elements combined. Its abundance is similar to this figure in the Sun and in Jupiter. This is due to the very high nuclear binding energy (per nucleon) of helium-4 with respect to the next three elements after helium. This helium-4 binding energy also accounts for its commonality as a product in both nuclear fusion and radioactive decay. Most helium in the universe is helium-4, and is believed to have been formed during the Big Bang. Some new helium is being created currently as a result of the nuclear fusion of hydrogen in stars.

Helium is named for the Greek God of the Sun, Helios. It was first detected as an unknown yellow spectral line signature in sunlight during a solar eclipse in 1868 by French astronomer Jules Janssen. Janssen is jointly credited with detecting the element along with Norman Lockyer during the solar eclipse of 1868, and Lockyer was the first to propose that the line was due to a new element, which he named. The formal discovery of the element was made in 1895 by two Swedish chemists, Per Teodor Cleve and Nils Abraham Langlet, who found helium emanating from the uranium ore cleveite. In 1903, large reserves of helium were found in natural gas fields in parts of the United States, which is by far the largest supplier of the gas today.

Interesting. I live in NE Texas, and today on a stretch of state highway between Tyler and Longview I passed a long motorcade of humvees and other military trucks driven by military personnel in uniform. No idea where they were going, or coming from.

Well since helium is rare on earth, and we've been wasting the shit out of it in kid's balloons and stupid feel-good nonsense like that, it's pretty normal that the military and such would claim the helium stock for nuclear purposes.. Maybe they need to build a new sub lol

A leading cause for the shortage is because of the expanded use in aerostat units such as the sensor blimps that line the border region.

Also used to cool superconductors ie MRIs, particle accelerators, digital device manufacturing.

A Man Has Got to Know His Limitations

I am just a sinner trying to make it to heaven!

Romans 8:35-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
