poetrybowl2013wi

acula2013poetryb

The poll above has the 10 poems that was selected to win the upgrade prizes. They are in no order, as they are equally wonderful.

I have posted links to the poems at the bottom... Please check them out and vote.

Even if your poem doesn’t appear in the above 10… that doesn’t mean you didn’t share with us an amazing piece of art.

You all are winners in my eye!!!

Your talent is clear and the amazing minds that are present here are unlike any other group I have been associated with online... or offline for that matter!

But (sadly) there is only one first place prize… That means somebody has to win!

1st Place = 'Free FULL upgrade for 1 month’
2nd Place = 'Free TRIAL upgrade for 1 month'
And as a bonus! There will be a 3rd place prize = 'Free TRIAL upgrade for 1 month'

There was such an amazing response that I wanted to step up my offer of 2 prizes… to 3 prizes.

I am had my wife assist me in picking the 10… She doesn’t know any of you, she is a non member and her suggestions were based on the poem and the poem alone.

It hasn’t been easy picking the 10!!!!!!!!

It’s been damn right hard!

We have spent the better part of the day reading, considering, comparing, biting our nails, pulling our own hair. But this is our 10 picks.

You ... you looking good in them jeans
I bet you look even better with me in between
I keep my mind on my money, money on my mind
But yous a hell of a distraction when you shake your behind
I got j.o. on my right side pourin some cups
My whole hood is to my left and they ain't giving a fuck

So feel free to get loose and get carried away
So by tomorrow you forgot what you was saying today
But don't forget about this feeling that I'm making you get
And all the calories you burn from me making you sweat
The mile high points you earn when we taking my jet
And how everywhere you turn I'll be making you wet..

lol

Thanks for the 5 twinkly thingys!

hf

I totally agree with your argument with your art teacher.... There isnt any right or wrong in art. Art is from the soul, and everyone sees something different...

And since its from the soul... one may see echos of their own soul in the art piece...

What I may not like, someone else might stare at for hours in awe.

Thats the beauty of art... its about accepting the piece... and as well as yourself. ...or not accepting it

Its about looking into the message the artist was trying to tell us... its about the secrets the artist hidden... its about finding the similarities embedded within... that is reflections of our own self..

Art is complicated :)

So how can one grade an art piece?

...but one can chose what their favorites are ;) lol

dont vote if you dont want hf

thanks for stopping by! :)

I could drown in the drought of my own desire,
but I choose now to lift my love up higher.
I will go with the tide, I will ride the wave,
no more wading in ebb I got my soul to save.

My life sometimes feels like an ocean of doubt,
and passion will choke me if I dont let it out.
So I'll throw myself upon the wrath of the sea,
in the midst of this chaos I'll set my heart free.

I will dive to the deepest most colourful reef
and there i will cleanse all the anger and grief.
Then when I surface, for that reviving breath,
I'll no longer doubt what is life and what's death.

I think you let the intrusion of rhyming play to much a part in the story of your poem.

Wow thank you for your inclusion of my poem!

I feel like a winner already hf Wish I could vote for all of the submissions, as in my opinion all of them deserve to win. A lot of great art was shared because of this contest, and my life has been enriched because of it.

Good luck to everyone!

Good morning and thanks for the honor Dr Acula! Everyone's a winner when the soul shares itself IMO.

Here's another nugget I dug up around dawn.

All Roads

"A shadow shrouded shaman
in a hyper-hypnagogic state,
stumbled upon Brahman
in a single point; one, none, & great.

He did not ask for holy proof
or that knowledge be unfurled.
He desired instead that a reign of truth
Be offered to the world.

Well Brahman grinned a formless grin
which all the Aeons knew;
'My son, the veils are growing thin,
and pierced by radiant hue.

The stage is set, the pieces placed,
In time you all shall know.
Open hearts must seek with haste
the reversal of the flow.'

Then the shaman woke to a setting sun,
all his fear and pain diminished,
and realizing we'd already won,
sighed softly 'It is finished'."

Happy Monday!

Dr Acula. I think that posting it all here would make it easier !

Heres mine thats in the running. Thank you for this contest !

I Gave up Everything to Gain it All.

That "All" was to Know your Embrace
I will not Listen to Them.
For They do Not Know Love.

I Knew How the Universe was made.
In Her Heavenly Abode,

I was There when the First Stars Shone
I was Light in the Darkness
I was Before the Moon, and the Tides,

Before the Creatures Crawled Forth
From when the Oceans Sent Forth Life
I Could See from an Eye Within,
The Spark in my Mind knew Everything.

Without Words I could Speak,
Without Hands I could Levitate
With Just my Thoughts Could Create.
And my Soul Lit my Spine
When I Asked for Love to Burn my Heart.
To Know your Smaller Hands
To Protect You from Man's Existence
That Could Extinguish in an Instant.

You are Beauty Personified,
And I Called you My Creation,
To Claim the Abandoned Bride,
When You were all Alone,
I Promised You Would not be Alone Again

Even When the Sun Aged,
And a New Sun Would Form,
Lighting up the Ages,
Extending to the Universe
They Marry in their Passions
To Where the Womb is
To its Scattered Seed,
Children Come Forth from the Clouds
Sons from the Sky,
Daughters from the Earth,
The Veil Breaks Free,
The Wings Fall and Tear,
The Sky Lets Down Rain
The Elements, Fire,
The Shooting Star and a Serpent
And I am Bound in Chains
