Great, thanks for blabbing, Debauchery!

Now, everyone who has read this entire thread now knows how to get karma for doing good work, which is a good thing...

Except, now there are going to be dozens of people 24/7 scanning the pages for bots to report them.

I have been building up my good karma in order to give away a free full upgrade to someone, which costs 200 karma.

The bot reporting needs to go on, but I don't like new peeps moving in on my turf!

And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.

Had nothing to do with karma other than in the vaguest sense. I was trying to understand what an "abusive post" was.

I've had some great input! It has given me a completely different perspective.

Maybe someone could start a thread on "miscommunication" or "misinterpretation".

Hadn't seen anyone mention this topic before.

If a post is reported as abusive; the report is reviewed and if abuse is found, action is taken. Yes, the reporter gets karma for the report if action is taken to remove the referred post.

I am really curious about this. It's all water under the bridge now, of course, but I really have no recollection of ever being abusive, or suggesting illegal activity, or calling anyone any names. It has bugged me ever since the incident in question. Is there any way for a user to see the reported post? Why are we not at least sent a message informing us what we did wrong after the ban is lifted?

What is with some of you people????

Do you even bother to read the posts within the thread??

I'm trying to get an understanding on what an abusive thread is

And I get red karma for mentioning it!

Apparently you prefer people to keep their mouth shuts and not question anything. Geeee what does that remind me of.
 Quoting: Angelic_Warrior

You may already be aware of this, you can remove those red karma remarks.

Go to your karma page (left side of the page) click on the link at the top labeled karma prizes.

Click exchange next to the option that reads “Remove one bad karma vote” You will need 10 good karma to do this.

Now go back to your karma page and click the newly added delete button next to the bad karma comment.

Presto! One less red karma.

Hope this helps you out.

After reading a thread yesterday I decided to give the poster some green karma.

I hit on the karma bar and their list of comments came up.

I was shocked to see MANY 2 thumbs up for Reporting an Abusive Post.

What exactly is an "abusive post"?

Why would someone have such an abundance of double thumb green karma for reporting these.

I found this disturbing.

Please inform me otherwise.

reporting spam, illegal activity, blatant racism and copy right violations to the mods keeps GLP on the up and up so we can continue to enjoy the site as is.

owner, admins and mods like it because you are helping them out (i dont see how they could do it on their own, this site gets SO much traffic) and you get a little something in return.

if you make a point to seek it out you would be astounded at the amount of abusive threads and posts that get posted here. hell you can find several a day just by reading whatever threads you would normally read.

do it enough and you can keep an upgraded account by only using your karma or upgrade others (i try to upgrade one other person for everytime i upgrade myself but that isnt always possible)

The negative karma is often undeserved but it’s going to happen. You just have to take it for what it is. Some people are just mean, sad but true.

I got a red karma that in the comments section said “for reporting abusive threads” after posting on this thread. Oh well, no biggie. I just removed it.

It’s not worth it to give someone else the power to control even a moment of your time. I believe in karma in the real world and I’m sure that those who do mean things will have it come back to them eventually.

My intent was to inquire what the "report abusive post" was about.. not karma.

I was in the process of leaving karma (green) when I clicked on the bar and all the comments appeared. I saw the double thumbs.

I only wanted to understand what it all (( "report abusive post" )) meant.

As I stated earlier... getting red karma for asking a question reminds me of what is happening in this gov't only of course on a very micro level. No one is held accountable for anything. Transparency is non-existant.

The message being... keep your mouth shut or else.

Either play the game or suffer the consequences. Karma is like monopoly money... pointless... unless you're keeping your account viable by using it. It might make one feel good but at what cost. Muffle your thoughts? Regard the karma consequences before you ask or speak?

Cowards must love this system. Much easier to wield the all powerful red sharpie when you can do so without any residual effects and hide behind your invisible signature.

No doubt for many on here it's the only "real" power they've ever experienced.

I've made my point.. and then some... lay it on me
