Do you still have lot's of wheat stored in your bunker?

Wheat is very useful in fact, but most people don't have a clue as to it's best use in survival. (It should be sprouted for three days before using for food or for animal feed.)

I too love my coffee, and it has been one of the only things that I have not been able to integrate into a self sufficient lifestyle.

I bought a coffee tree with the hopes of producing my own coffee, but then I was disappointed to find out that one coffee tree, in one year, only produces enough coffee beans for one pot of coffee.

Imagine all the acres of coffee trees that are required now to support just my coffee habit alone!

However a coffee tree will produce ten times as much leaves, which also contain caffeine, and in parts of Africa tea made from (roasted) coffee leaves is more popular than the brew made from the beans.

I like the coffee leaf tea. It does have a distinct rather strong flavor, but for the moment I still drink coffee the traditional western way.

I enjoy my coffee too .. couldn't handle it without ALOT of flavored cream though.

Is it a safe area of Mexico? I have travelled to Mexico on two occasions. Once to Manzanilla, where I felt safe, and the other time to Puerto Vallarat, where I was always looking over my shoulder.

More likely an electrical infrastructure HACK ATTACK....as a warning.

My new religion is coffee ,the only true religion and worthy of bowing and worship ,in fact if coffee was actually around 2000 yrs ago the bible would be about coffee and we would be sending coffee parcels on the date it was invented .

Some areas are much safer than others. But then safety is a relative thing. People who are "street smart" will probably be ok even in the worst of areas.

First rule of thumb is only carry the amount of money you need for the day and minimal ID in your main wallet, like no more than 500 pesos ($40). Carry some emergency money, and any more important ID in a more well hidden location, like under the insole of your shoe or something.

In the ten years I have been here I have never witnessed any crime of violence personally, but rather people who are far more open and affectionate than most in the US.

A few years ago a pilot who spoke no Spanish came here to fly. He took a very large amount of money out of an ATM machine and went to a low training hill all alone to do some practice flights. Two guys walked up with pistols and liberated him of all that cash and all his ID. Dumbass.

Location is everything and best to have lots of local friends and contacts.

It is best to be like family to a native Mexican family.

Most people in the US or Canada have enough Mexicans around that they could forge that kind of relation with someone in their area, before even making the move.

Have had the feeling the 'leaders' have been blackmailed for a long while now.No other reasons some of the stupid and blatantly obvious crazy decisions would be made.

Thanks for the info. I don't have very good street smarts... so I would not do well in a country that requires street smarts. I am too trusting... too naive. Oh well.
