Re: How many single people have resigned themselves to be single for the rest of their lives?
34 years old at the moment and I have been single since I was 22 years old. I plan to pretty much stay this way for the rest of my life. Every great once in awhile I get the urge to go on a few dates and just reminded how boring and expensive it can really be. Besides, I'll probably never really trust women anymore after I have finally learned just how parasitic they really are.

It's all good though ... I'm actually happier this way.

Re: How many single people have resigned themselves to be single for the rest of their lives?
LOL LOL LOL Facebook. Not all us broads are on facebook. Never ever been on facebook. OK opened an account so I could see pictures of my Neices and nefs but only done so less than 10 times in many years.

I am single and don't care either. I am very capable and do everything required around my Mountain Top Farm without the assistance of a man. If I need help from time to time then I hire someone but its not very often.

I am not the usual female either. I run Equipment. Plumb. Carpentry. Frame. Build whatever even weld. Tom Boy Forever.

I just turned 49 and have been living on my Mountain Top for 13 years by myself. I never worry about anything. Not Scared but have 5 big German Shepherds.

I find most men aren't men anymore. Don't know how to be the Knight in Shining Armor. Actually most are lazy and looking for a mother for their children from broken relationships and somebody to look after them. I would not mind that so much but most of the Men these days don't know how to do anything. No Skills.

Makes it hard when you can do more than they can and most men don't like that. They want helpless females even if their helpless themselves.

I just find it easier to live alone. I don't mind it at all. I like it actually. Its easy.

NO. I'm not Fat and Ugly Either.

You and I sound very similar... we should get together and form a sexy single girl shtf compound. hf
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14779720

Yes and you can fly your Gay Pride "rainbow coalition flag" over the compound so men will know to stay away.

.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33679759

Not gay. Thats what some of you Men always think when the WOMEN get too independent and can do things for themselves. Your just insecure. Probably don't really like women much either. Control freak I bet. Thats why so many of us choose to stay single and figure shit out for ourselves. I hate jealous type control freaks and there are alot of you out there.

If I was to post a sign it would be this. Saw it on another site.

" Do you believe in Life after Death? Tresspass here and find out "
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19653424

Relax, lady. Nobody's gonna lose their mind because some old lady on the mountain with her 15 german shepherds zealously guards her iron virginity protector. Go ahead and make your female compound up there. When the SHTF and law and order has disappeared and bands of marauders have formed, a gang of women up on a hill with tons of supplies is gonna sound like a dream to them. Good luck.

Dude you nailed it.

My current ex, tried snooping through my facebook account when I was in the shower Sunday. So, when I was with my Uncle at the bar Sunday night watching the Super Bowels, er Bowl, I get a text from her asking if I had been talking to an old friend of mine that I had known since she was fifteen.

Needless to say, my current ex has two kids, by two separate guys. The youngest, a boy - his father is gone in prison for an unknown amount of years now for trafficking guns.

Your ex sounds like a slut, to put it kindly.

And what are you doing leaving your computer unlocked around your gf? Hide everything! Western women are deceitful snoops, don't trust them at all.

I bet less than 5% of people in this area are even thinking about SHTF stuff and then its mostly WOMEN that do not the MEN. I think Women have more survival in them than most Men.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19653424

There's more than 5% and there's more men involved than you might think. One reason (the main reason) the Canadian long gun registry was repealed was due to the constant efforts of a lot of people over a long time. There's deep reasons for wanting that yoke removed. Men joke about their "bob" (bug out bag) and bush cabin as being needed for any potential zombie apocalypse. That's code... we know what could be coming... many are tied to wives who don't know, don't understand, don't believe and don't want to talk about it. So jokes are made about zombies... ammo and food are tinned for hunting trips that get cancelled, then purchased again for the next trip. When we do go hunting it's to remember what and where. The deer are secondary to scouting water supplies and living locations.

I am going to be single for the rest of my life. I have to accept it, deal with it, and continue on with my life. There are pros and cons to the single life.
Woman have really changed over the last 10 years and in my opinion it has to do with Facebook and the new dimension of 'life' that Facebook opens up to the woman. Woman are living in a 'Facebook Fantasyland' .

Re: How many single people have resigned themselves to be single for the rest of their lives?
No one has to be alone. Yes, the world is changing. We are going the route of selfishness.

It's sad in a way. Feminism has destroyed our culture. Not gays.

Place blame squarely where it belongs. Why not be single. There is no responsibility with that. At least until you have a child.

We need to go back to family. It doesn't matter what kind of family. We need to have closeness with other human beings.

We are becoming hard faceless people. When we have too many people, we have apathy.

We need to close our ranks and shrink our population in order to truly enjoy one another.

Peace does not exist in chaos. Chaos is population growth unabated. The support of family, friends, cousins, uncles, aunts, etc. don't exist anymore.

We lost it. We are all alone due to our western greedy appetites.

Whereas in China, SA, MX...all have thriving family. Because greed does not exist in those countries like here. We are an empty society. Our elders are throw aways.

We force out those with the most trivial issues. America's family is the dollar. It's not the interpersonal relationships that make us feel whole.

We are empty vessels. Ruined empty vessels that have no empathy or sympathy for anything but our own asses.

Wow... this has turned into a great thread. Really appreciate the honest & heartfelt responses! Thanks.
I must say, the British Columbian mountain top survivalist chicks have really tweaked my interest.

I am so sick of the absolute garbage that is blatant in all forms of media these days... the kissing Go-Daddy Superbowl commercial is the perfect example of how screwed up our society is.

Keep sharing my friends...
In the end it doesn't even matter...

Funny you mention that. Recently met two other women when they came to buy dogs off me. I raise Long Haired Sheperds. The Old World Kind.Big and Beautiful and Straight. Anyways turned out they were preppers. Single living in different area's around BC. Skilled and Very Strong Independent Types.

Over the course of the last few months they have been bringing " Stuff " up the Mountain. Safety in numbers and we thought we were all going to have to deal with the SHTF senario by ourselves. Funny how things work out but finding the right people that are motivated for all the right reasons with the right head space is critical. I have a great place and was set up already. So ya we have a girl SHTF thing happening. They will head here when the time comes.

Always open to suggestions. Always open to more joining in.

We have all agreed that were probably better off without MEN in the group. LOL

Sorry Eat. You do have a great sense of humor. I give you that in spades.

I'm 30 now and have been single since around 24 when I was in a serious 4 year relationship and now I couldn't be happier.

I do whatever I want, whenever I want, don't have to answer to anyone or deal with anyone's bullshit. It's great.

Hubby and I both agree that when death parts us that the survivor is going to remain single after.
We both see it that way.
We are both nearing our 50's.

We know there can be no other better love than what we have had with each other over the last 24 years.
We achieved such a perfect soul mated relationship that we could never recreate it with any one else, so why try the impossible. It would only pale in comparison.

If I am the survivor, I will miss having someone to talk to but I could never replace the man that has been my husband and best friend for almost a quarter of a century so far.
We never had any kids and are happy about that, seeing how unhappy some of our parenting friends have become.

Re: How many single people have resigned themselves to be single for the rest of their lives?
i really do hate the word 'hubby'. do men really like being called 'hubby'?

its just a ridiculous word that gives off so many dodgy connotations

hubby and wifey. haha. you sound ridiculous. its babyish, childish, makes them sound like a pet. its derogatory, its just hideous

the vast majority of marriages end as up prisons of obligation - if you have kids

i think its just human nature. modern life has just highlighted the human condition

time was when you were stuck, not anymore

not that i am applauding those who ditch their obligations and sod the poor kids. at least keep the peace and stick it out if you possibly can

you should be hanging in there (except in violent or other dire circumstances) and give your kids the best start

after that you can be free

so, anyway, the single life is fine, but it IS generally foisted on the unwilling. eventually they accept it and reason their 'singularity' away

youve either had bad experiences with the other sex, or theyve never been interested in you in the first place - it all eventually boils down to the same thing, you end up in the same place

here on glp, bitching banana2

You'll be o.k., Eat.

Sometimes we have issues from past lives that could be interfering with this one. I was told that in a past life I had took vows of celibacy before, that I was some sort of religious figure, and that it was interfering with this life's decisions regarding entering relationships.

After my marriage broke up, I've pretty much kept everyone away. I know I have issues regarding trust and betrayal, so it's easier for me to vow 'never again'.

I dont' know if you believe in that stuff and I know some people find it ridiculous, but if you can just entertain the idea that sometimes our issues follow us from other lives, it could give some perspective of things.

My last relationship ended pretty badly.

Something in me attracted me to her, and something in her attracted her to me.

So I'm not going down the blame all women route.

The break-up was a catalyst for great positive changes in me, emotionally and spiritually. And ultimately I have no regrets.

I see no reason to adopt a rigid mindset about it, and stay single for the remainder of my life.

The more I better myself, the more likely I'll meet someone right for me.

But truth is we always met the person right for us at the time.

I'm a single grandmother - still attractive, healthy, & vital in my early '60's. Maybe I'll stay single for the rest of my life or maybe I'll yet meet a man to share it with. My only plan is to have as good, happy, and interesting a life as possible. Usually have time enough to be up for talk and make friends when out and about - wouldn't be too shy to introduce myself to someone I find thrilling with something like
"LOL Ordinarily I wouldn't go for coffee with anyone who might be attracted to me... but in your case I'd make an exception.
Would you like to have coffee with me, at that Dunkin'Donuts over there?" or something like that. I wouldn't be auditioning online for getting stood up on the date. Going alone to singles events, karaoke pubs, wine tastings, and trade shows about motor vehicles is fun anyway.
