SOMEBODY PINCH ME! Is Cabela's REALLY Out Of .22LR, .223, and .308???

Everyone is out of ammo.

I haven't been into Wal-Mart or any of my other, ordinary haunts lately, but I'm guessing there's got to be some ammo avcailable in common calibers.

I'm afraid to look for primers, powders, and bullets.

no 22 rimfires. Hard to believe

Don't know about online, but store in St. Louis still has most ammo.

It's not even as though certain calibers are backorderable. THEY'RE NOT EVEN OFFERED AS SELECTIONS!

Man behind counter sid they were thinking of putting slingshots and rocks in the ammo case so they would have something in it....Wal-e in Bolivar, North of Springfield, Missouri.
They had 20 ga shotgun stuff, Maybe 300 rounds, 400 primers.
One box of .22 magnum,$18 for 50 rounds.
2 boxes of premium Winchester hunting ammo, $45 a box of 20.
He found 4 20 round boxes of cheap 223 while I was there, $12 a box of 20, American Eagle I think.
Some 270 rifle, $25 a box of 20, 10 boxes.

They had plenty of ammo at the gun show a couple weeks back... there was even one guy who hadn't jacked up his prices :)

Apparently, I'll have to give Cabela's a phone call and hear what they care to disclose publicly.

I found .223 at walmart last night, but they limit the purchase per customer. So my wife and I both bought some.

In the words of the customer service agent I JUST spoke to: "We're not even sure if we're getting it <what you're asking for> again." Holy COW. Are we to assume if Cabela's well has run dry, we're simply buying up what remains at the disposal of other retailers until they too have nothing more?

Does anyone have any distributor information available? Did I miss something, or is the ordinance industry under martial lockdown?

My pleasure. For anyone who's ever shopped Cabela's, you know that they always offer an astounding selection of ammo, even if it's on backorder. But it will always appear as such. Or always has. The fact the selections are altogether GONE has me a bit concerned.

My local cabellas is out of most calibers except for Herters 7.62x39 and a few boxes of golden sabre premium handgun ammo. No 22lr to speak of but plenty of shotgun ammo available. Clerk at the register said 4 weeks backorder for most ammo.

Ammoman has loads of blanks. Whew, what a relief.

This is all SOOOOOOOO wrong.

Keep your eye on the sku's beneath the vacant slots and see if they don't mysteriously disappear as they have online.

if you people would look around a little you'll find your ammo. cabella's and walmart are sold out because that's where the majority of people shop. go to some smaller retailers and you can find all the ammo you need. the site i order from has plenty of ammo. some ammo would have to be on back order, but the majority of it is readily available.

Yes it is true the Cabal is out of ammunition. In fact there have been many recent security breeches and "weapon" failures that are being withheld from the media.

What part of the sku's are gone aren't you getting? The selections have evaporated without warning. The hardcover catalog with these selections only arrived recently.

Care to share the name of the retailer you've suggested has "plenty of ammo?"

without warning? have you not been paying attention to all the gun freaks buying up all the ammo? it's been going on since before the election. i'm not a big "gun guy" but i do own guns for protection and hunting. i ordered all the ammo i needed without any issues just a few weeks ago. granted, you may be looking for different ammo than i bought, but if you think certain ammo "evaporated without warning" then you are pretty clueless and don't pay attention very well

I asked the clerk if it was because of demand or because Walmart wasn't ordering more. He replied:

"Well, at first it was because people were buying so much but now it seems like Walmart isn't placing orders for more."

OP, it might be wise to buy any ammo you can get your hands on. You can always trade later when there is no ammo left on store shelves.

I'm guessing "plenty" could change at the blink of an eye.

The little guys are out of ammo too. What, you don't think people thought of this already?

Trading: very good advise. I don't want to sound as though I'm ammo-destitute. I don't like to shoot what I've got socked away, so I like to make a purchase now and again that I can shoot guilt-free. I suspected the government would take away the ammo before they could ever get their hands on the firearms. But where have we seen any kind of announcement? Because all indications suggest there is something afoot that goes well beyond excessive demand. Especially since prices were already high. And yet, any mainstream discussion of this is verboten
