"Dog Town" (Z-Town, the Zephyr boys) is Venice beach. I lived two blocks from there in a really nice house and went to the boardwalk almost every day that I had the time. Love it. Fun crazy people during the day, great restaurants at night. Used to see Anthony from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and play basketball with Flea there all the time

If he can surf Mavericks, he's got HUGE huevos(!) and I don't doubt he'd attack a maniac to help a stranger.

I saw Bobby Martinez and Kelly Slater drop in on 60 ft faces at Mavericks one day. It's like having a 6 story building chasing and falling on you if you get bombed while you're in the tube. Then you're inside an out-of-control washing machine and you don't know which way is up until you get slammed into really sharp rocks on the bottom.

Surfers are unique in a great way. I think it was GMac who just dropped in on a 100 foot face in Portugal the other day. Only a small handful of people can surf the pipeline, Mavericks, or any other big waves around the world. And live to tell about it.
