The People So Afraid Of Death Are The Ones Who Do Not Believe In The Afterlife

What about the ones clinging to the afterlife, afraid of life? :p

That is a very good question, and they need help as well. They do not see the purpose in life, and they only hope for death to bring them to the afterlife. Unfortunately, they are only going to fully experience the afterlife if they learned the lessons that they were intended to learn. Otherwise, they will either experience another chance, or they will bath in the fire. That depends on the life they led, and only they can tell you what exists in their heart.

Im gonna disagree here. We who know of the afterlife know that judgement day follows. We are fearful because we understand that we have sinned and that is a scary thought having to atone for all your wrongs. Ill prob cry and ask for forgiveness. Cause any father will always forgive his child.

You are right and justified in being fearful of the day of judgement. However, look into your heart and see what evils still exist there. Once you overcome them, you have nothing to worry about, my friend :-)

Just live. The chips will fall where they do. Love and live. What happens beyond this life is a secret gift. Enjoy!

We always imagine eternity as something beyond our conception, something vast, vast! But why must it be vast? Instead of all that, what if it’s one little room, like a bath house in the country, black and grimy and spiders in every corner, and that’s all eternity is? I sometimes fancy it like that.

I live in the now and appreciate every day for what it is. I don't need to believe that if I kiss someone's invisible ass I'll get to 'party in paradise'.
And furthermore, if there is such a thing as an afterlife I can assure you that I will be as prepared for it as I was for this life.

I came into this world and figured it out step by step.
I don't need the myth of some dead jew to make my life worth living. I have a beautiful wife, beautiful children and good, kind hearted family to live for.
The problem wth most christians (my mother in law included) is that they're so busy living for their 'eternal life with jesus' that they forget about their real family.

You are including me with people from your past and generalizing, but that's okay. The way you have observed the world is based on what you have experienced, and no one can fault you for that.

However, you are ignoring your spirit when you claim that there is no afterlife. Your spirit is what gives you intuition, feeling, emotion, and love. To ignore the afterlife is to assume that all of those things come from chemical reactions within your brain. If you believe in your spirit, if you believe in love (at least the concept of love that I am familiar with), then you must also believe that your body is only a vessel, a vehicle for that same spirit.

Life is important, I am not saying that it isn't. However, to think that your physical life is all there is does not answer many basic questions, the most important being what the meaning of life really is. Thank you for your contribution, and please do not be offended by anything I have said. I only have the best of intentions, I hope you can see that.

Any other action described or listed separately from love must be perceived as that which is different from love, otherwise there would be no distinction. I only assumed that to live separately from love is to behave in a manner not reflective of love. If I was wrong in that assumption, I apologize.

I don't fear death...And I don't believe in an afterlife....I'm a stage IIIB cancer patient in remission so I have had my dance with death. I made peace with it. No heaven, no hell, no God or angels or devils....just peaceful nothingness. I'm cool with that. Makes the here and now much less convoluted. My oncologists claim that religous folks have a higher cancer mortality rate though....they tend to give up easier.

What I will say is that my own brush with death went much differently. I was in Iraq in 2003, and was driving a fuel truck in a convoy to resupply American and British Marines in Basra. We were ambushed in a town just South of where we were heading to, and what happened can only be described as pure terror.

I was so afraid that I closed my eyes and laid my foot to the floor to get the hell out of there. When I finally opened my eyes and we were past the ambush site, I took inventory of what I had just been through and I thanked God that I made it through without a scratch. I do not know what I did to deserve a second chance at life, but what I do know is that I really and truly believe that God was with me during that experience.

Beyond the fear and human emotion, there was a certain point when I let go of trying to control the situation, and I gave all of my will and control over to God. I immediately felt an intense feeling of peace and tranquility, more powerful than any I had ever or since experienced. I knew at that point that God was helping me, and I had absolutely no doubt about that.

The afterlife according to Christian ,Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist Hindu, Pagan, Traditional Afrikaan,Traditional South American ,or one of Asia's many "eastern" beliefs and there many variatans.

In my experience, you are completely wrong. Old people, even devout Christians, cling to life with all that they can. Even if they are bedridden, on an IV and are losing their limbs to diabetes, they still hold on. My 90 yo mother takes her fish oil for her heart, religiously, afraid to die, even though she's been a Christian for better than 75 years.


Plus, NOBODy knows what happens when we die. Not me, not you, NOBODY. It's all speculation based on "channeling".

You closed your eyes and floored it? You couldn't see to drive? One of your buddies, lucky enough to have survive, should have put a bullet through your head for that shit. You were in charge of all their safety and you should have had your fucking eyes open, no matter what the pain.

Unless you went through the exact same experience, felt the exact same emotions, and you reacted in the way that you described, you have absolutely no right to judge me. What I didn't tell you was that I was screaming over the radio for everyone else in the convoy to floor it as well, just to avoid wrecking one of them. You appear to be a very immature person to say some of the things that you just did, and you took my story in the exact opposite way it was intended.

You are making the assumption that simply calling yourself a devout Christian means you truly believe in the afterlife. I have found that those who are the most concerned with the labels they place on themselves are the ones least representative of the mask they are trying to project. True belief in the afterlife is extremely difficult, and for the same reason you stated - no one knows for certain what happens when our bodies die. That is where faith comes in, not a delusion, but a true faith that there is something more - that while our bodies may stop living, our souls live on.

There is also another possibility at play here, one that I completely overlooked. There may be some unfortunate souls who fear death because of the life they've lived. Deep down, they know/believe what awaits them, and they are terrified. What they do not understand is that all they have to do is ask for forgiveness and mean it. God's love for them is so far beyond what we understand, and God's forgiveness is endless - we simply need to turn to Him and express our sorrow for our actions, and ask for the pain we feel to be taken away.

OP I think it is natural to worry about the manner of death, rather than the afterlife, idk, at least for me.
