what some of the foreign posters here forget or do not know, as they don´t live here:

something has changed over the last 30years here.
when i was a kid, i had many friends from other cultures, we were mixed in school - and it was all good and a great time.
there were no big differences, everyone played and had play dates with everyone.
you couldn´t feel the cultural differences, the only obvious difference was about the food - but this was an enrichment for all of us (our mothers shared their receipes etc). everyone got along well, and if there was a little disput, it was about the person/personality ("x took my favorite toy") and not about the origin.
all of those i grew up with are fully integrated, do have jobs and are still people i do get along very well; i think this is, as their parents wanted them to integrate and achieve something here.
some of them came from the really poor parts of turkey like anatolia, too, some from persia, italy, greece, most from former yugoslavia - people who flet from the war there - and even those ethnicities who were at war there got along here!

the difference to today is:
they didn´t seperate from us germans.
they didn´t found that many "cultural associations" where only they were allowed, didn´t spend most of their time there - as todays immigrants do.
and the mass of them was willing to get a better life here - by work, not by welfare.

with all getting down regarding economy, rising low-incomes and stuff, it isn´t just attractive any more to work hard; as well as there aren´t enough jobs for the less educated any more.
eg those less educated who come from the poor parts of turkey are unwanted in turkey as well, they won´t achieve anything there - and they won´t achieve anything here, but the main point is: they don´t want and don´t need to, as living on welfare and using our social system gets them a better status as they will ever have achieved by working hard in their origin country.
you´ll notice that when visiting muslim countries. the people living there are very different from those who imigrated to other countries;

the main difference i noticed is the open-mindedness, eg women wearing the headscarf.
you´ll find more women (forced to) wear this headscarf here in germany than you´ll find in istanbul itself.
this marks the will to seperate as much as possible from the countries they immigrated;

i am not talking about having to loose their identity when integrating, but they just don´t want to interact with us. they seperate willingly and stronger than ever before - but why did they come here if they don´t like our country and us at all?

so i have to assume, they just like the freedom and social security - they are demanding, but are not willing to contribute to this, not willing to respect our cultural identity which made all this possible.

just ask why there is no problem in no country with immigrants from italy, greece, spain, asia (like chinese, vietnamese...) - only with those from muslim countries?

but - the problem itself is not the people;
it is the politicians of all countries:
those who send their own unwanted people to other countries, and our politicians who are so afraid of "political incorrectness", that they concede more rights to the immigrants than to the autochthonous people.
same goes for departments, police.. everything.

did you know, our health insurance (where everyone here has to pay for) pays for their relatives in their home countries, too?
this means, eg, you have 1 turkish immigrant working here - and all his relatives living in turkey (wife, sisters, brothers, parents, grandparents ...) automatically are entitled for health care - by our standards!
the thing is:
if i work here and pay for the forced health care, no relative of mine is automatically entitled for it.
we all have to pay for our own health care.
this is a clear discrimination against the "natives".
why is this so? because our politicians made this agreement back in the 60s with those countries - and are afraid to take it back due to the obligatory "nazi" title they would be called then.

another example:
if an autochthonal german has to deal with the autorities above, he/she will be treated worse than if an immigrant from muslim countries has to; out of fear to be called a "nazi". this makes it easy for them to live left-alone (as in unchallenged) with all the benefits.

this betterment to muslim immigrants (it does not apply to those from other ethnicities!) is the reason why they are not that welcome any more - this is what changed as well over the years.
