I've been married a long time and am not looking. So what I am saying is just my conclusion from my experience, probably rather uncolored by desire or ego.

I'd run with the beta male idea. Tell her you have no idea what she's talking about and your sorry for trying to be nice to her. Tell her you gave the card to a homeless guy who was more appreciative and that you just don't like their coffee anyway.

It's true, I can say, that I am attracted to guys who have a strong personality and are 'bad' but you also have to remember in there that it has to be truly undercut by care and real 'looking after' what you've got in the lady. you don't have to verbalise it but the bad behaviour has to be supported by decent human beingness. That is a serious skill and very very hard to master.

You have to have a hard hand but a deep heart...

It's just a social experiment really. The woman doesn't like the guy and probably never will. You can't be overtly hostile, but having a little fun with the rejection can be amusing. There is a lesson buried in every setback.

I would be taking mental notes in a such a situation for future reference. It might be helpful for overcoming beta male fear of rejection later on.

Some other responses would be to have an overly dramatic reaction, telling her how you are utterly crushed that she doesn't like you and that you are not sure if you can continue living. Then proceed to tell her that you will cherish the coffee card forever and frame it, displaying it in your living room, just to be reminded that your one true love was actually willing to touch it, if only for a while. Then explain how unrequited love was truly the engine of undying romance....

That will get you either an uncomfortable laugh or a restraining order.

First off, I asked the co worker if she drinks coffee, she said yea, and I then retrieved the card and handed it to her and said, get a cup or two or some hot coco. Thats it.

I return to find the card and note.

Am I hurt? Yes
Do I hate her? No
Do I feel uncomfortable around her now? Yes

I gave the card to another co worker today, no problems (coworker was a female also). She said thanks, and I said, you deserve it youre a hard worker.

That's OK. But you didn't have any fun, and you didn't get it (either one) to glisten! So you just succeeded in supplying some coffee to the second recipient, no more.

If you feel for these girls, and you apparently feel for the first, you've got to get a more fun / daring / confident attitude. There is no "should" here.
