So will it be in the end with all those who do not produce fruit: they will be removed from the face of the earth.

That is illogical, because the sons and daughters of non-fruit producers may be superior fruit-producers

There is only so much you can do.

Water and take care of them but if they refuse to produce fruit they are not worth saving.

Hasn't it been really hot there? If the temp is high than 95F, the blossoms won't set fruit. We have that problem every summer in W. Texas. Lot's of days in the 100's. We either replant or most of us just keep nursing them along until it cools off.

Only if your goal is to blindly eat tomatos, but perhaps there are other uses for this plant that you have failed to consider!

What a shame Ladies have become like that!

But back to the tomatoes plants they weren’t worth saving: too much effort for nothing.

Were they blossoming? If they did, maybe they weren't pollinating. Next time, if the same thing starts, just give each blossom a tiny shake. You have to be careful not to pull the blossom off, though. Better luck next year!?!

It probably won't make you feel any better, but my tomatoes were crap last summer, too. High heat and drought will do that. Didn't have enough to do this...tomato

Gardening out here is a challenge and the soil on our land isn't good. We've been working on it for years and it's starting to look better. The weather makes it almost impossible some years, plus it's been changing the last few years. I've been thinking of some things to try this year, it's almost become a skirmish between me and the heat/drought!LOL We'll see. Thankfully, it's still fun...most of the time.

I bought the plants at the hardware store this year, perhaps they were hybrid plants. You know what I’m talking about.

If that is the case no wonder they did not produce.

You might want to try growing your own next from heirloom seed. It's pretty easy, really. The only thing they don't like is tobacco smoke. If you smoke, you'll have to keep them somewhere where there is no smoke.

There's alot of good stuff on youtube on how to plant from seed and about heirloom/open pollinated seed. Just be careful, Monsanto is starting to get into that market. It's hard to track down, but find a reputable company for heirloom seeds in AUS. Try not to get too discouraged. The weather can't stink forever! At least...I hope not.wall
