He tells them to wait in Jerusalem until they receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, which will empower them to go out into the world and be his witnesses. A few days later, on the Day of Pentecost, the disciples are all together when the sound of a mighty wind comes down from heaven, with tongues of fire resting on them. The Bible says, "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them." The crowds observed this event and heard them speaking in different languages. They were amazed and thought the disciples were drunk on wine. Then Peter got up and preached the Good News of the kingdom and 3000 people accepted [link to christianity.about.com] |

Can't wait to see it myself. |

We started to sing and The Holy Spirit filled the music, I got goose bumps and started crying, not just me but many, then people got on their knees and started praying, then Worship team kept playing, then a lady gave a beautiful prolific word, this went on for over an hour and Pastor came up and said Holy Spirit moving lets just keep going . So we sang for long time and the Pastor ask if anyone needed prayer or healing , everyone got up in the end went to front and prayed Just Wow is all I can say To be part of that I felt very Blessed so tired of Churches having planned programs and not allowing this |

Angelic_Warrior User ID: 23290196 United States 02/05/2013 10:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have been very blessed with a couple of outstanding pastors over the years who listen to the Voice of God and it is not unusual to experience this type of outpouring. You never want to leave the presence of God is so evident. If more people in the world were to experience God in this fashion there would not be so many hard hearted agnostic/atheistic people around. Let's face it, most churches are DEAD.. sounds mean but that is just the truth. I would not attend a dead church.. with a dead pastor.. preaching to a dead congregation.. where seemingly God Himself is dead. The Holy Spirit will not go where He is not invited. God is soooooo Glorious ... If people knew what He is really like, they could not resist Him.. Hence the reason satan must blind them to the Truth. Maybe your church will be where revival starts.. everything else seems to be happening in Tx. Thanks for sharing! But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. I Corinthians 2:14 God doesn't choose favorites.. They choose HIM It is not the greatness of my faith that moves mountains but my faith in the greatness of God |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 33585838 United States 02/05/2013 10:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I SO wish I could experience this. My family is resigned to Home Church because all the churches in our area are so dead, it's pathetic! When we go, we bring the Holy Spirit with us and try to spark the fire but are asked to leave. Traditions and doctrines of men are far more convenient in today's churches. Glad you got to experience this. He is coming for those who are on FIRE for Him. Not the lukewarm, but the lukewarm will certainly try to convince you otherwise based on their own false doctrines. *sigh* Let it RAIN, indeed! We need a Revival in this world like never before! |

Keep2theCode User ID: 20545539 United States 02/05/2013 10:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I believe the Holy Spirit does come upon people in a special way at times; there is precedent for this in the NT. And I am not a cessationist. It's great that you experienced this. But I'd just like to add a balancing thought if I may. This special "filling" is of course not the norm. Pentecost marked the birth of the church, and a later similar event proved to the Jewish Christians that Gentiles were no longer excluded. But beyond those two occurrences we never see this "tongues of fire" kind of event again in scripture. Every believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit at the moment of faith, "as a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance". The normal daily experience of the Christian is this quiet fellowship with the Comforter and Advocate. Thrills are nice; they can lift up the believer and be a sign to the unbeliever: Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers. Quoting: 1 Corinthians 14:22But we shouldn't rely upon thrills and signs alone. Speaking, persuading, even "vigorously defending" are equally effective for both reaching the unbeliever and building up the believer. In fact, as "witnesses" we are called to testify, which means to give an account with reason and rationality. So I'd just like to say that lack of such thrilling events is not why the church is dead; it's lack of salvation itself, lack of grasp of the gospel, lack of lives transformed by faith in He who rose from the dead. Above all, it's lack of relationship with God through that faith. |

During communion they were singing "We are one body, one body in Christ". The people looked loopy. I felt strange and almost cried. This song, for some there, produced an altered state of consciousness. It was an amazing experience. |

I have been having some good feelings in my own worship and prayer time. Sure wish I could find a church like yours. That is AWESOME! How about this? Last night I posted on a thread with the guy who wanted to grant a wish that my electric was due to be cut off. Well, I had been praying about it for 3 days. I fell into discouragement and tried to "fix" it myself. EPIC FAIL!!!! Lo and behold at the stroke of midnite a friend went online and paid my bill!!!! Talk about the midnight hour!!!! LOL God is AWESOME!!! |
