I was raised in a pentecostal church. It was at it's biggest about 50 people, so not that large. I remember people dancing, laughing, and falling over with "the spirit". In my adult life, I've never felt anything similar except once when I was praying and was overcome with the giggles, I was by myself when it happened. It was quite a joy though.

There isn't a record that I know of in the Bible about that other than having an unclean spirit manifesting.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Laughing and being "overcome with the giggles" doesn't sound like the Holy Spirit to me. I think it's more like crying and falling on your knees in repentance, like the original thread post said.
Being slain in the spirit and being overcome with the giggles is not Biblical....these pentecostal "phenomena" are definitely not from the living Creator God and Holy Spirit....it is satanic.Would you make yourself known in the midst of a people that would attribute any manifestation of your very presence to not just another.. but your arch enemy?
You can not possibly know or understand what it is like for the Holy Spirit to fall in your presence when you deny He manifests in that way. He will not force Himself on you.. your church or anyone else who does not invite Him.
You wouldn't recognize Him because you have a pre-conceived notion of what He should or shouldn't do.
It is near impossible to literally feel His Presence and not shake, weep, fall down, groan or any other number of things. This is the Almightly Creator we are talking about here. His Mere Presence demands a reaction. People and angels fall prostrate in His Presence all the time.
He Thrives on the Praises of His People.
How normal would it be for you to have children and then never interact with them. He's our Heavenly Father. He longs to visit with us in such ways.
God is far from boring. He may be Righteous, Holy, Truth, Life, Alpha, Omega, I Am that I Am and everything else He represents but that doesn't necessarily equate with boring.
Look at His Majestry throughout the Earth. Not the Works of a dull uninspired Artist
He loves His people who hunger for His Presence to revel rest and be refreshed in the midst of His Presence.
Please understand I am not in any way shape or form saying you or any other believers are not good God fearing people.
I simply get very frustrated with people accusing things God does of being the devil or satanic. In my opinion this is very near if not complete outright blasphemy.
Don't exalt your denomination, regardless of what it is above the Works of God.
