I agree with your point that spirituality and psychology need to be integrated. This is an interesting topic.

Transpersonal Psychology integrates spirituality and psychology, but it's not mainstream.

The average person having a mental health issue and seeking help doesn't stop to think they need to seek out a Transpersonal Psychologist because they don't even know they exist.

I excelled in college so my advisor took a special interest in me. I had told him I wanted to apply to a school that offered a Transpersonal Psychology curriculum, and to pursue having this as my career.

He had a lot to say about it, but it boiled down to him telling me I'd be wasting my education and time...and money (expensive private college).

I ended up not going to the college because of cost, but his advice reveals how suppressed is a holistic approach to mental and emotional health.

That was back in 1997 and he was very old school, maybe things have changed a little since, and Transpersonal Psychology is more accepted by mainstream psychology than it was then.

With the inherent problems within the psychology community set aside, this field of study is as about as fascinating as it gets.

For having participated in some spirit releases in various capacities, I can tell you that the aha-moments are many and uniquely educating.
