If so, consider applying a barrier cream frequently, washing & thoroughly drying your hands between applications. Hope this helps. |

I don't believe it's athletes foot either. Everything I've read points to eczema. Again, I've used the Neosporin eczema lotion, and it helps, but it's just too dang expensive (~$10+/bottle). I'd like a natural CURE, not a treatment :( |

goodmockingbird User ID: 29124333 United States 02/06/2013 09:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Try the antifungal terbinifine hydrochloride 1%, sold as a generic athletes foot treatment at almost any drugstore. Has little potential for any harm, and will probably relieve your problem. Also, avoid getting your hands wet or keeping them moist. Hard to do, but set that as your goal. Avoid repeatedly washing your hands, dry them thoroughly when you do. Do not use "moisturising" lotions, etc. You want to keep your hands dry (but not overly 'dried out') on the outside, with a natural, healthy level of hydration inside the epidermis. Cut sugar out of your diet. Add a good probiotic. I am betting you have a fungus problem, much like athletes foot, rather than actual eczema. Do you work in a bakery by any chance? [link to en.wikipedia.org] There's a couple other formaldehyde releasing surfactants too that cause the same thing...this is another I see most often on ingredient lists... Shurrie User ID: 3095874 United States 02/07/2013 08:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Apple Cider Vinegar--I would give you a link if I knew how to.. I suffer from eczema and psoriasis--I have been using teatree oil shampoo and conditioner for my scalp--and hemp lotion for my legs and arms...but there are place that I can not reach, like my back. I was going through my Grammys recipes and found a page she had pulled from a magazine about using vinegar for natural healing, and both eczema and psoriasis were mentioned. So I am going to try a soak this weekend. Spinning on the Pause...Rewind |
TenStar'd User ID: 33906761 United States 02/07/2013 08:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP - I have had eczema all my life. Hands and feet mostly, however sometimes other areas. Apple Cider Vinegar seems to be keeping it under control lately. 2-4 tablespoons daily, plus Vitamin D capsules. My triggers are: Excessive Humidity, PABA (para amino benzoic acid), latex, most detergents and soaps. Also, allergies to Avocado and peanuts. I also stay away from Chicken and milk as much as possible. I drink Lactaid milk now and I seem to be able to tolerate it well. I use Dove soap. You have to find out what it is that you are eating or using that is setting you off. Good luck... I know how devastating this condition can be. God does not test us, He strengthens us. For if we are fully in Faith, He girds the armor evermore. |
Fand User ID: 10230625 United States 02/07/2013 08:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have dry/flaky/cracked fingertips. I believe it's Eczema (it looks exactly like this [link to farm3.static.flickr.com] Quoting: Cracked Fingers 11696497 I've tried the Neosporin Eczema lotion, and it helps, but I want it GONE! I just want it to go away. Anyone have any experience with Eczema? Know any home remedies/treatments to get rid of it? Raw Shea Butter works better than anything I know. It really needs to be raw, straight from the Shea nut. Look in health food stores. A little bit goes a long way, and it's totally natural. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 9121345 Canada 02/08/2013 08:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 3x on Antibiotics,3 different hormonal creams, dermatologists, naturopath, lots of vitamins, manuka honey, oregano oil, coconut oil, I tried all home remedies and nothing working for me. So 8 month later still " fungus" on my fingers and $ 1000 shorter in all "experimental remedies" I tried urine therapy. 3X daily for 10 minutes I soaked my fingers in my fresh urine, then washed my hand with ivory soap then softened with baby oil with vitamin E. One week later "fungus" was gone. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 30137191 United States 04/26/2013 10:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have it too. I don't believe it's fungus. I think it is allergies. I just started getting it back again. I'm on the east coast and it is April. Didn't have it all winter so I know it's not dry skin. Personally, I haven't found anything that gets rid of it. I will use Neosporin and band aids at night time when they really hurt. In the past, I've found it goes away sometime in the summer/early fall. I would love to hear more remedies people have tried, preferably natural. |
