Re: Ron Paul: Why every American should now be concerned with immigration "reform"
Oh my! Paying back taxes when working illegally, to become legal. I'll stay underground, thank you very much.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32967202

I hope it's unpalatable enough that nobody will take up the offer. But unfortunately, some will, probably the least desirable ones in some way. Like those who have just been mooching off food stamps rather than working, therefore having no income -- they'll just get to keep taking food stamps for their litter until they get legal.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33389306

You really think Obama will get strict with the conditions? They will give amnesty to all of them, those who work, those who leech, those who commit crime, ALL OF THEM. Doing otherwise would be discriminatory .
Banned as usual.

Only Real Men can with safety destroy the tangled forests and wilderness of Earth and make from them gardens, but will those who inherit the gardens be Real Men? The law decrees that they must be, or the wilderness will reclaim its own.”

Yes there will also be a lot of cheating. and it will favor Obama's favorite "vulnerable populations" of guaranteed Democratic voters.

Indeed we are better off without the whole thing. RP has it just right that anything "bipartisan" is some awful creepy NWO shit.

Re: Ron Paul: Why every American should now be concerned with immigration "reform"
Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. We have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'
Theodore Roosevelt 1907

TR was a progressive. I don't admire him, nor do I agree with almost the totality of his views, but I do see a good common ground for the above view on immigration.

I don't need to argue RP's points. They are pretty meaningless to me. If this country enforced the already substantive immigration laws, and made clear that it is in fact illegal, enforced them as such, then we'd be a lot better off.

In 1830, Mexico passed a law banning almost all immigration from the United States and provided for military garrisons along its border to enforce it.

Should you be unlucky enough to stray into North Korea, you are shot for your trouble.

Australia often turns you around and puts you on the first plane out of the country.

But here in the US they demonize those who would have us simply enforce already existing laws on the books for decades.

Lets have a look at the Mexican Constitution shall we? (reference: Center for Security Policy)

1) Foreigners may not participate in political affairs in any way. (Article 33)

2) Mexicans shall have priority over foreigners for employment, and Mexican citizenship by birth is considered indispensable for certain jobs such as airline crews, military officers, chiefs of seaports and airports. (Article 32)

3) Only Mexicans by birth or naturalization may acquire ownership of land, water or their appurtenances. (Article 27)

4) Any Mexican private citizen may arrest someone committing a crime such as an alien in the country illegally and hand him or her over to authorities for prosecution. (Article 16)

5) Immigrants may not become lawmakers, cabinet officers, or a Supreme Court Justice, or even a clergyman, but must be a native born Mexican. (Articles 55, 91, 95 and 130)

Getting the picture yet? America has THE softest illegal immigration on the planet. Were the US to enforce the same items that the Mexican Constitution does we would be condemned more than we already are.

I am not suggesting that we adopt the Mexican Constitution, however we should enforce the laws on ILLEGAL immigration that we already have, and enforce the laws existing about legally obtaining citizenship through legal immigration.

No amnesty. No wink and nods. No breaks for employers using bogus SS cards or id. No anchor babies. No welfare or government assistance for ILLEGAL immigrants. Period.

Fine, and when did Ron Paul disagree in any of that? Ron Paul is against illegal immigration as much as you are, he's only adding to the whole argument that ending government welfare which applies to illegals would make it even less likely for them to wish to come in the first place. How is that a bad point?

Btw that Roosevelt quote pretty much dooms all those pesky dual citizens in power nowadays.

Nice easy to follow rules sounds good to me. It's gets laughable when on the one hand they say you are illegal, but in the other say "dont worry about it, there's lots of eager employers willing to hire you once you're here." On the face of it Mexico sounds strict but actually after clearly laying down the ground rules it is quite easy for foreigners to get legal papers to start a business, get employment, buy property or retire...

what do you expect from california illegal girl?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24156714

lol. Just because I'm from California doesn't mean that I'm Hispanic (I'm not). On my mothers side, my grandmothers great aunts emigrated from France. They started a milliner shop in Hannibal Missouri and knew Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain). My father's side emigrated from England to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1638. Needless to say, I'm against illegal immigration.

I also tend to think RP is about as useful as a one-legged kicker at the Super Bowl.

There are ways to solve this that would succeed and, taking the advice of RP isn't one of them.

McCain should come out of the closet and admit he's a hawkish democrat already.

Oh my! Paying back taxes when working illegally, to become legal. I'll stay underground, thank you very much.

Why don't you stay underground in your own country, you short, dumpy, greaseball?

And another thing... Keep your little peter in your pants. Stop cranking out redundant clones of yourself.

We've got ENOUGH criminals running around.

They claim 20 dependents, so they won't mind.
Night-time news stated they scam 5 billion a year claiming each others children for the ones who do file taxes.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32598924

Illegals dont file taxes. Their illegal employers dont issue income tax receipts, either. Duh!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32967202

No the illegals do not file taxes.

I laugh when people say they do. I guess they are referring to our consumption tax: sales tax.

However, the ones with a TIN number do claim umpteen dependents and get a huge refund back at the end of the year.

The illegals would be smarter to continue on as they are because once you are a U.S. Citizen, they lose all those rights they enjoy now. The right to free emergency room visits and can never be tracked down because you have no number attached to your name like the rest of us, the right to drive without a license and insurance. The right to credit cards with no ss# as some banks have issued, don't know if they still are doing this. And the right to be invisible. Think hard, illegals, the path to citizenship might not be all it is cracked up to be. And then, you can't go back home... unless you have dual citizenship, not sure if that is allowed in Mexico or not.

I don't condone illegals. My husband is a legal immigrant and we went through hell to get him legalized and it costs a shitload of money, too.

Just pointing out what a fucking police state we live in these days.
