These days the safest area to be in Mexico is probably Cabo or Downtown Cancun. Otherwise you do have to be careful. Regardless that is crazy for six women to get raped and the guys tied up. One time in ST Maarten(French Side of the Island) we were at some restaurant and the owners were being so nice etc... we were recommended to go to the restaurant... when we returned to the home someone had taken jewely and about 10,000 in cash. Definitely set up by the restaurant and distracted by them while they told someone to go to the home and take things. Someone who had access to see what we had and then used the restaurant to get us away from there long enough for them to rob us!

I use to go to cancun all the time. not anymore. Chances are you will be ok in the tourist area. but now it looks like stuff is spilling into a tourist area.

I also went to a bull fight in PV. The beer guy came over and I asked for 2 beer. 40 pesos he said. I gave him 200 pesos and waited for my change. He then put the 200 pesos in his pouch and asked the person next to me if he wanted a beer. I said to the beer guy "where is my change?" He then started getting mad at me and pointing to the police and saying he was going to get the police after me for hassling him. Then he had the nerve to ask me to pay the 40 pesos for my beer. I didn't want any trouble so I reached into my pocket and gave him 40 pesos in exact change.
Moral of the story... never use a large bill when paying for small ticket items... that is when you will get ripped off. If they ask for 40 pesos... give them 40 pesos.

No, but why should we accept as immigrants all the ones who were economically unviable in Mexico. That's taking their worst not their best.

The correlation with crime gangs is fairly low, but frankly this is the wrong argument. We should not secure the border with massive amounts and fencing and drones, then give these people citizenship benefits.

We should firmly put these people in the back of the line if they leave the country and apply, and judge them competitively along with everyone else. Because of their expect contributions and cost to our country.
