Firstly, I am very sorry for what has happened.

Secondly, it IS weird that the cleaner was not affected, and I wonder why this was, because the rapists would not have spared anyone.

Thirdly, just because this terrible thing happened, it does not mean this is the case for every family.

These girls may well have been followed during their walks around Acapulco, or they may have been targeted by persons connected to the villa where they stayed.

I have been to Acapulco many times, and you need to be careful, just as anywhere else.

Spring breakers have been to Mexico for many years and there has not been this type of situation, and it is not as extreme as some are claiming on this site.

When you book a hotel, it is always worth checking what security they have in advance, or go with a local.

Not only that. Stay in safe areas! A lot of my friends often travel to the tourist areas in Mexico with no problems but they don't venture out to explore. Mexico is not for "exploring" the way people would think, you can't just wander off to see what you'll find. It's a war zone.
