Could be. If 2012 DA14 has triggered the recent solar flares directed at it (and thus us) over past few days and that in turn influencing quakes.

These feel like precusor quakes, the whole earth is becoming highly unstable. If not for this region it is going to set something big off somewhere else.

its possible.. as i do recall some australisian pre cursor quakes to the boxing day tsunami quake in indonisia.

I'm afraid that's right. The swarm built up and built up from lots of lower 5 pointers over many quake close to M6, then all the lower 6 pointers came followed by higher 6 pointers. Then the 'main shock' of M8, a M7 and still, it doesn't stop shaking. There are still M6 every few hours.

There is a law after which the real main shock of a very large megathrust quake is mostly 1 to 1.2 magnitudes stronger than the strongest foreshock ... Let's hope the M8 really was the main shock, but I doubt that.
