That area keeps shaking like that and it could set off other earthquakes on other faults in the vicinity.

My thoughts exactly. Based on the past week or so of quakes in this region, I'm half expecting a 7+ quake on the Western edge of Indonesia in the next couple hours.

Magnitude 8 Quake Strikes Off Santa Cruz Islands

"A tsunami warning was issued for areas in the Pacific including Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea, while a tsunami watch was in effect for other areas including Marshall Islands and Samoa, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

It added the earthquake has the potential to generate a "destructive tsunami."

Look at the buoys and check each flashing one. It shows the rise in sea to give you an idea of how big or little the waves will be.

remember for every 1" of rise in depth it will equal 1' of rise at shore
 Quoting: MuskMan

So if this is measuring 3 feet right now in height in the deep ocean it could be a wave 36 feet high when it reaches shore?

100 miles from epicenter? or 100 miles from land?
 Quoting: Disillusioning 10129272

epicenter. Since the ground beneath collapse and water slips in the fault.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33707581

make sense, but depth of water at buoy will skew the data- ie. if it a wave height is read in 100 feet of water and is 1 meter, when it hits a reef at 20 feet it will be 5 times larger (I think its just a direct ratio). So buoy will give us a height, it really won't be that useful, what will be useful is the period (stregnth/ thickness) of the wave, that is more telling than height. A 20 ft wave at 5 sec is nothing compared to a 5 foot wave at 20 sec.
