People, be realistic. There are people riding waves as big as buildings. A 1 meter wave? Mass media and sheep, Please get a life.  yeah and theyre on a surf board ready for it Example: you can drive a car at 100 mph totally safe, because you're at the same speed, but if you're unmoving, or even moving slowly, and you are striked by a car at 30 mph, you will have serious damages.
