This political bull**** is way old. Once people can put dollars aside and realize that their kids are more important than that is when things will get better. People need to have character. And trustworthiness. They need to know that that can trust their neighbor. I want America back. I hate our politicians. They have robbed your kids of a very good thing that once was. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 17338098 United States 02/06/2013 08:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Agree with you OP! One of my family members just got dropped to part time from full time. He was at 40 hours a week and was given only 17 hours last week, only 19 the week before. He is struggling badly and cannot find other work that is full time. Personally, I experienced the same thing recently while looking for a new job. I stopped looking because every single phone call I got was for part time. One even told me they would consider full time for me after 90 days. I don't make great money at my current job and thought since everyone is saying its getting better I would look and it is not getting better. I'm staying with what I'm doing now and now just being thankful I have something. At least what I have now is full time. Good luck to you OP, it is tough out there!! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 4032947 United States 02/06/2013 09:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I got laid off after 13 years with a huge company here in the US. It was pretty shitty. I was working at Target at night and working as a sub contractor during the day. All my other free time I was working on peoples computers, mowing yards and working on cars for people. I did that for about a year and a half before I moved out of state to take a contractor job which led to my being hired as a full time employee. You might have to move to find a job and you might have to do shit you don't want to do for awhile. Make something happen for yourself. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 961432 United States 02/06/2013 09:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you develop skills it takes time. You then become subject to the particular field of specialization you are in. The eCONomy is dependent on ever increasing amounts of government spending, the government is consuming the real economy. That means job sectors that enjoy current health, may become ill (bust) as real organic demand is unknown. In fact people with capital (wealth) do not know where to invest their money because they do not know what real demand is, so they would rather invest it in the ponzi eCONomy which yields then higher, short term returns (DOW). Then, you have to learn a new skill set or spend years trying to get another job in your former specialization. If you try to find that other area, you start over at low wages if you can find a job. The problem becomes employers don't want to risk hiring you at that low pay because that "recovery" is always around the next corner. They assume that when the economy picks up again, you will take off into your former specialization for more money. Sooner or later the majority of us, not just some of us, will experience what I am saying, in spades. . |

Sure its seasonal but they do tend to keep the best of the bunch full time perminant after the summer is over. The trick is you got to show up on time every day and actually work while you are there. |
Northman User ID: 1130148 Puerto Rico 02/06/2013 09:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The question is; what do you imagine is going to happen that is going to bring about an economic recovery? 70 to 80% of our economy is consumerism. Consumers are tapped out and the political elites want to cut back on programs that pump currency into the system, meaning we are headed for austerity. If anything expect a tougher job market. |

They just got even worse under Comrade O. America's been going down the crapper since 1959. When BUSH was in office there were jobs. Today is a total different story and Obama is making it worse every day....and they LIE about it too. America started to head into the economic crapper with Clinton and his repeal of Glass-Steagal. Had he not done that....we would not be where we are today with the economy. Bush had little to do with our current economic disaster. Last Edited by Useless Cookie Eater on 02/07/2013 12:50 AM |
