I believe they're called aftershocks.

Perfectly normal.

It's normal after a huge earthquake, they are just aftershocks, nothing to worry about.

yep...

the last big japan one had thousands of aftershocks... some still say all the quakes in that region are aftershocks...

Aftershocks doh! Should have thought of that. That's like seismology 101! Thanks for the kind reply's!

yes it is normal...

In fact its right on...

the time to worry is when no earthquakes happen...

EQ's release the pressure... when that pressure isnt released... it builds up...

quakes = good

no quakes = bad

Re: Quaketards Please Tell Me If This Is Normal
Anybody ever heard of "fore shocks"? Scientists will tell you that they don't know what are "fore shocks" and what are "after shocks" until AFTER the actual earthquake and its "after shocks" and the region returns to normalcy. Just because there is an earthquake doesn't mean that "after shocks" are coming... It may be these are "fore shocks" of something getting ready to happen. Not trying to spread fear just letting you know NOBODY KNOWS until its history - and the scientists/geologists even admit it.

Earthquake Myths
Can small EQ's relieve stress to prevent large ones?

If you look at earthquake statistics in most regions of the world, including California, you will find that for every magnitude 5 earthquake, there are about 10 that have a magnitude of 4, and for each magnitude 4, there are 10 with magnitude 3. Unfortunately, this means there are not enough small earthquakes to relieve enough stress to prevent the large events. In fact, it would take 32 magnitude 5's, 1000 magnitude 4's, or 32,000 magnitude 3's to equal the energy produced in one magnitude 6 event.

So looking at the current activity that Santa Cruz is having it would taking 32,000 5.0 EQs to equal an 8.0.
That being said the Japan 9.0 quake had multiple 7's prior to the 9.

Good video to study earthquake patterns leading up to a large event.

Re: Quaketards Please Tell Me If This Is Normal
Totally not normal.

Too many aftershocks above 5.0 for a quake that was a 8.0

Totally abnormal.

Re: Quaketards Please Tell Me If This Is Normal
so its a myth?

i dont reckon its normal. it may not be the signs of a major event but it does feel like an 'adjustment event'
