Idaho Survivalists Plan Walled Citadel
A group of survivalists is inviting people to apply for places in a walled, medieval-style city it wants to build in the woods of northern Idaho. The proposed fortress community, where residents would be required to own weapons and stand ready to defend the compound if society collapses, would have room inside for up to 7,000 families.

The citadel's website - which bills it as "A Community of Liberty" - shows drawings of a stone fortress that would include houses, schools, a hotel and a firearms factory.

No building has been done on the project, but it has already raised concerns in communities southeast of Spokane, Washington, where it would more than double the population of rural Benewah County, home to 9,000 people.

Gary Davis, the owner of a quilt shop near the proposed citadel, said he was worried about the type of people who would be drawn to such a community.

The type of people who are attracted to the survivalist fantasy will never be able to build a community.

Because the type of people who want to preserve the present system of control will never let them.

I'm talking about after the "collapse" that they're so fervently praying for, when all government control will end and anarchy reigns.

These people won't have the inclination to get down to the tedious task of maintaining a community. At best they'll operate as a bandit outpost, raping and pillaging their surrounding counties in the name of "freedom". More likely, they'll just all kill each other.

Depends what kind of people they're gonna have in there.

I assume they're going to try and operate as a town, with families etc and self sufficiency as their goal.

It all depends how it's run, as long as it's not a cult and doesn't become a mini-dictatorship with one guy calling the shots, they could easily pull it off.

Of course, The Man isn't likely to let it get that far.

Tbh if there is a big societal collapse, they're the ones who'll be fending off the bandits from outside I reckon.

Re: Idaho Survivalists Plan Walled Citadel
It is a shame to see all the land up here going to wast. It is over grown with diseased dying trees, dry brush and losts of garbage. Fire hazards.
I would plant fruit trees, gardens and the like if possible. The earth does need care takers. There would be enough land and food for everyone if people were not so negligent, filthy, lazy, selfish, greedy and stupid.

But I do not want a hate group in my back yard either.
