Hope nobody fusses at me for this question!!! I read somewhere it could (or may) strike near GOM ... If that's the case should we be concerned it could ignight toxic sinkhole here in Louisiana.
I know I run the rush of getting chewed out but lack of knowledge (I'm new to all this) so if someone should see concern please inform... Thanks in advance!

One thing I noticed on GLP.

astromutt and trinity both seem to be using multiple screen names.

Wait till the thousands of rocks, etc. in it's tail are pulled down to Eartrh by gravity .

THEN, the fun begins, as to WHOM to blame that this was not mentioned, even by 'THE' Astro NUT !

I still wouldn't say this "for sure" won't hit the planet. The calculations are far too varied to say one way or another.

The possibility still exist, however slight.

Remember that hyped satellite fall a year a two ago? The were tracking it but we never saw one damn video not one photo of the thing. If we can take pictures from space of under water waves for Christ sakes we can take a video of a satellite falling real time. Is there even a chance these two events can be related? Any thoughts?

What I meant was, not one person can have the exact coordinates of the asteroid, so every calculation will have a slight margin for error. If this thing is going to come between earth and its orbiting satellites, it most certainly has potential to hit earth.

You simply can't say for sure, one way or another, you just can't. To claim otherwise isn't only ignorant, it's downright absurd.

Regardless, I'm fairly certain that it wouldn't be an ELE, but it could have detrimental effects.

Which is precisely why you generate a series of solutions with gaussian noise added to account for that.

Nope. The margin of error was accounted for and there is no possibility of impact.

I highly doubt that, where did you hear this?

It would have to have a very high mass, and with its size at about 50 yards in diameter, it would have to be super-compressed to have an effect on earths orbit.

Nope. It is irrelevant. Over long time periods solar radiation pressure can become a significant factor, but not over short time periods such as this. Individual solar events are irrelevant. You clearly do not have experience in studying how asteroids actually move in space. Asteroids do not blow around at the whims of solar events.

I have actually studied such knowledge in great depth. I guess you had an excellent counter-response stating they don't have any effects in a short period of time. This is true, unless we have a solar event at the precise moment it is approaching earth, it could then have a slight impact on the trajectory.

You ever throw a football and a sudden gust of wind knocks it off course? It's the same thing, and it is very possible, however improbable.

I would suggest you do a lot more studying and be careful of the sources you're studying from. A solar event at the precise moment it is "approaching earth" would be completely irrelevant. In fact, even a satellite impact would not result in an earth impact (at least not on this orbit). The closer the asteroid gets to the moment of close approach, the higher the delta-V requirement is to alter the trajectory to an earth-impacting one.
You ever throw a football and a sudden gust of wind knocks it off course? It's the same thing, and it is very possible, however improbable.
 Quoting: solar

Wrong. Solar wind does not affect the trajectories of asteroids in that manner. I know this from years of first hand experience monitoring their orbits. You have a completely unrealistic and false notion of how asteroids move in space.

It was on the Columbus Fox Affiliate. They said in passing that the rotation of the Earth could speed up, then they went to a story about Justin Bieber coming to town.

I thought the same as you, but an object travelling that fast might have some gravitational energy, kind of like the tilt a whirl at the county fair.
