A Vegetarians realistic 2cents about Vegans and people eating meat.
I am a vegetarian for health reasons, a few months ago I started a thread (which has since bean removed for some reason) called “NOT ALL ANIMAL PRODICTS ARE UNETHICAL” but before I started that thread when someone would ask me why am I a vegetarian I would say because of health and animal welfare reasons but now after the replies I got from that thread I have come to the realisation that if I was doing it for the animals I would be a Vegan or raw foodist.
So I would like to say a great big thankyou to ALL of those Vegans who helped me to find that inner truth that I was trying so hard to ignore. Thanks to those Vegans I now put my survival over that of my animals, having said that I will still continue to take care of my animals as humanely as possible but I no longer feel false gilt if I sell excess animals off for meat as I am now (thanks to those vegans) only vegetarian for health reasons. So a great big thankyou to those vegans because I can now sell my excess roosters, my excess ducks, my excess male goats (as I only need 1 for breeding stock), excess honey from my new EXTRA beehives, and I am now looking into aquaculture which is something I would never have done before because It would of gone against my false idea that I was a vegetarian for animal welfare, I am also going to supply most of my fish food as worms from my new large worm farms and other bugs.
If I thought meat was healthy I would keep some of it myself to eat but I don’t think anyone could convince me to do that.

Meats not good enough for me to eat it but if people want to eat it than that’s there choice. I must admit i do make some omni people freak out a bit at first but after a short time everyone so far has come too really like my state of mind.

I have also found that omnies in general tend to be a lot more receptive to the idea of Vegetarianism than they used to be around me because of my new found laid back attitude, they see me as more of a realist now as opposed to some weirdo hippie making them feel bad and trying to convert them.

I believe that people who think of themselves as omnivores have just as much right to eat meat as a carnivore such as a dog, I believe myself to be a Vegetarian therefore I have no right to eat meat!
The mind is a powerful thing, to quote Henry Ford "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.",  we can jump up and down and tell someone one logical fact after another until we are blue in the face and it wont matter one bit if they don’t believe that Vegetarianism or Veganism is right for them, if for some reason an omnivore who truly believes that they need meat to be healthy was forced to live on a vegetarian or vegan diet than there is a VERY HIGH chance that there physical and mental health would decrease (regardless of how much healthy food they eat) because of the restrictions that their mind has put in place!

Vegetarians and omnies are always getting bashed by vegans because they think that we don’t know enough about Animal rights and all that is needed is for vegans to fill in the gaps and that people (especially vegetarians) will jump on the band wagon as soon as they are told, that’s not the case for people in 3rd world countries and also for people like me who live in “first world countries” where the ground is so depleted from centuries of monoculture farming, mining and forestry that you could take a sledgehammer to the rock hard ground and break the hammers handle, and this is what we have to try and grow food in, which would be nearly impossible without the help of animals.

I would be quite surprised if there was a vegan or a vegetarian that has not tried to convert at leased one person. There is only one thing that can change or alter what the majority of the public believes (as it often does) and that is the Main Stream Media, sadly Adolph Hitler knew this all to well as he once said “If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.” not that I am saying Vegetarianism is a lie but unless you can control the Main Stream Media you cannot change someone into believing that Vegetarianism or Veganism is right for them, it must be there choice that they make of there own free will and in there own time or else it wont last.

And as for health,
In my opinion there are many vegan and vegetarian foods that are unhealthier to eat than either dairy or meat.
Lets talk about a man named John, John lives off a diet of mostly dairy, meat, white sugar, white flour, white rice, white bread, High Sugar breakfast Cereals, carbonated drinks, deep-fried foods, Cookies and Candy.
If our friend John was to change all of the above foods other than meat and dairy to healthier versions he would be a lot healthier than he would be if he only stopped eating meat and dairy and kept eating the rest.

By themselves Vegetarianism and Veganism do not guarantee a healthy diet, they can be a start but by themselves all they will ever be when it comes to health is to be a part of a healthy diet.
So if you are only worried about health meat and dairy should be one of the last things you will need to cut out of your diet.
And while we are on the topic of health, in my opinion there is not a single person in the world that can come up with a good argument that Honey is unhealthy.

In the words of Forrest Gump “And that’s all I’ve got to say about that”!

I eat a vegan diet, mostly raw food.

I don't do it for the animals, though I find the factory farming methods of meat production abhorrent. They've turned it into something filthy and disgusting, as opposed to free range raised meat and animals raised by people who take good care of them in a clean environment and let them live a decent life before slaughter.

I still wear leather shoes and use other animal products.

My husband eats meat. I cook for him every single day.

He eats what he wants and I eat what I want. He feels better eating what he eats and I feel better on the food I have chosen.

People pushing their agenda on others who want nothing to do with it is the cause of most of the world's problems today, isn't it?

Live and let live.

Eat and let others alone to eat what they enjoy is my motto.

I don't agree with vegatiarianism for the same reasons I don't believe in conservatism, liberalism, or any other ism. All isms have their rigid dogma. And not all that dogma is good for me. I have come to realize over the past few years that there is only one thing I should believe in, and that is my own personal interest. I do what is in my interest.

I eat vegetables because they give me vitamins I need. I eat meat for protein. Making sure the environment is healthy is in my interest. What is not in my interest is fanatically protecting one individual rabbit on a planet of a billion rabbits, when that rabbit could be put to use to further my interests.

I don't like meat for the most part. But every time I quit eating it, my good cholesterol goes down into the teens. That's heart attack ville. My body demands meat protein.

lacking in hypocrasie.

I was vegetarian for four years. I did it for ethical reasons (not only animal rights, but also the theory that breeding animals consumes more resources and polutes mores). My cholesterol went up and my iron levels were below normal. I couldn't fix it with supplements or a better assessed vegetarian diet. I wasn't eating high cholesterol foods. When I found out I had celiac desease I couldn't juggle being both vegetarian and following a gluten free diet. I went back to eating meat. My cholesterol went back to the most desirable and healthiest levels and so did my iron levels. Going vegetarian or vegan may not be for everyone.

interesting, if cholestrol was a problem than you were eat too much dairy and eggs, cholesterol only comes from meat and animal products, you seem to have a problem with cholestrol more than most if it acts up again try a vegan diet for awile.

I've been on the Vegan Path after watching a documentary "got the facts on milk".

Once you learn that skim milk fat comes from skin, enriched means cow hooves and bones, and that all milk is basically white blood cells and mucus, makes it tuff.

But what sold it.. was the book "The china study".

My own doctor in the VA, (if you know the va, they don't recomend shit, so it must be good) told me he follows forks over knives method/2 engine diet and agrees dairy in any form, is a bad thing. Meat a close 2nd.

Before you hate, watch "got the facts on milk", they immediately talk about the Marketing of it, then actually see the government behind it.

It goes in line with making a weaker more docile country, which they have, thanks to obesity.

The China study, is hard to ignore when it's polled off of million's of subjects. There is a level of meat that if you go over, you will get cancer, not if, but when.

Genetics are a part of it, but not much. If you want to figure out how to beat Cancer, then go to another Government cover up, Gerson Miracle.

Just my opinion, but if people really want to wake up, first they need to take accountability for what they ingest in there bodies.

Honestly, why put label on things in the first place. Each person is a little different. I volunteer in a Vegan restaurant, most of the staff are not vegan's themselves or preachy, it's about making the best healthy choices.

I do crave pork ribs, i'll eat a few. Sometimes i'll eat something that's got a low amount of milk in it (everything has milk if you look at the labels).

I wish there was a GLP for food. If you looked at the shit they put in your water, fluoride. If you looked at that documentary, got milk, you'd realize how deep the government and big corporation have a lock on your food. Just once, take a look at Monsanto, who's ex crony is running the FDA.

It's all part of the big picture, they'd rather have you distracted than look at what's in your life, your jobs going away, your health, and then rights are striped from you.

A big part of waking up is taking control of what goes into your body. You are under attack through food, water, medicine, etc. As long as you don't carefully choose what you injest you are being manipulated.

I am mostly vegetarian because I feel bad for eating animals. But one day after being a couple of weeks without me I felt so sick I couldn't figure out what was wrong. So I ate some chicken and after I finished I felt a million times better...not sure what that was about...probably not getting enough protein...nuts don't cut it for my body.

Re: A Vegetarians realistic 2cents about Vegans and people eating meat.
I don't understand when vegetarians say we shouldn't eat animals.

Animals eat other animals (lion vs antelope)

Plants eat animals (venus fly trap)

So are you going to try to wipe out the venus fly trap because you think they are unethical? Are you going to tell them to get all their nutrients from the soil?!

Re: A Vegetarians realistic 2cents about Vegans and people eating meat.

So many words, and youve said so little. Amazing how a inflated essay by a vegan can soley be about ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME

Pick up a Heifer International catalog sometime. See how its filled with the lives of many people that have changed and bought nicer homes with the introduction of the ownership of ranch animals. See how meat and dairy buys their kids clothes and food supplies and how it buys a new roof for their house and or a new well for their town

Why are you so self centered, caring more about animals than fellow humanity? Why do you care more about a chicken than a third world child being able to have clothes for school and a education?

Animals as a source of food, nourishment and livelihood supports more people in the world than you know

Its not all about you.

Re: A Vegetarians realistic 2cents about Vegans and people eating meat.
And its interesting btw, how you label meat eaters as scarfing down cookies, chips, white bread and crap along with their meat.

Many of us follow the paleo diet of the original humans, We eat lean meats, leafy veggies, eggs, fruits and nuts.

You sound very judgemental of other people, making conclusions about them that are not accurate.
