Dad must pay child support for 3 kids that aren't his: Court rules

Yep, a guy I used to work with had to pay for a little boy that wasn't his because the law in my state says that if you raise the kid for so many years it's considered your responsibility to pay child support if you separate from the mom. I'm a girl and I think it's total bull****!

In the states don't be fooled.... It happened here also. A good friend of mine had this happen to him. I was shocked. Apparently, he received a sign on delivery letter that had DNA results in it, saying he was not the father. He had gone thru a pretty long custody battle before he knew any of this. It was after his divorce that some years later, this letter came along. Can you imagine?!

I remember saying to him omg, sue her for all the back child support and custody hearings. The court said, not only "no", but he continued to pay for another year until the payments transferred to the biological father. He said the courts response was that all decisions were made in "the best interests of the child". So, until another daddy comes along, you're screwed.

I should note that this is in Ohio. Not sure what the laws are in each state.

I get that you're joking, or at least hope you aren't saying that you'd do that with your own daughter, if it turned out she wasn't your bio-kid.

Btw, for those looking for small info on that case... I've heard at the radio today (in Montreal) an interview with the guys. He was devastated, he have to pay 900$can per month in child care and he currently live with his parents... you can just imagine

I think there should be a DNA test required at birth of every child.Thousands of men that are married are raising kids they believe to be theirs when they really arent.Married or not the test should be required then there is no doubt as to paternity.Might cut back on some of the married women and men screwing around too.
I know two men that are paying child support even though the children arent theirs.
If you are married its usually automatically awarded regardless and if the father wasnt married at the time but just accepted responsibility it was his child without asking for DNA test they usually have to pay.

Most of the time men lose in court because they are willing to take the brunt of it for the kids sake, or they don't understand the law. Lawyers also know this and feed off of it. They will kiss up to the womans lawyer and then both lawyers get paid and the man ends up footing the bill. Men need to step up and stand their ground. Look into the laws yourself and dont take your lawyers word for it. Chances are the lawyers is making a cut off of her lawyer! In this case here. There is now documented proof in a court of law that the woman commited fraud in a legal binding contract of marriage. If he persues the issue she will go to jail or at least be fined severly. Her fraud did in fact cause financial devestation to other parties of which she is to be held accountable for if proven guilty. But the drawback is that the kids will be hurt by all of this. If he raised them from birth it doesn't matter who the biological father is. He is their father. However, the mother and the biological fathers should be held accountable for the financial fraud perpetrated on this individual. That is not to say that there is always the possiblity that the DNA test could have been altered or deliberatly tampered with, just so this MILF (Miserable Ingnorant Lying Fuckup)could emotionally hurt the man. We all know how vindictive the female is!

When I met the father of my children, he already was a single dad to his 7 year old daughter (who is now in her 20's). After we married, she went to see her druggie birth mom and got in more and more trouble and traumatized in some really bad ways - none of which we were aware of at the time because it was out of state. She ended up with a lot of bills that came her father's way for her treatment and legal issues. The girl once came home and said that she didn't have to listen to her father because her mom said he wasn't even her dad. Well, when her father got the bill for many thousands of dollars from the state for all her troubles, it was suggested that they find out if she really was his or not. The DNA test came back and it showed that the woman had cheated on him and he indeed was not the biological father, after all, even though it didn't change much about them being "father and daughter" in general. Well, in a landmark decision, the court actually found in favor of my (now ex) husband and said he didn't owe the fees since he was not the biological father, even though he was on the birth cert and had raised her for a good part of her life. Well, suddenly, the legal system in California was in an uproar, and all these other men fighting the same issues who were unable to win their cases were contacting his lawyer to get the details of the case and try to overturn the judgments against them for children that were not really their biological children. And of course, rather than set a legal precedent and let all these men off the hook, the state had to get their money any way they could, so they reversed the decision and have been taking every penny they can get their hands on from him, and all the others, too. It's just how they roll. Was pretty interesting for a minute there, though, when the courts seemed to finally come to their senses, didn't last.

And no, she wasn't sent off to be victimized by her "druggie mom" - we had been told that she had gotten clean, a job, a home, and wanted to see her daughter, plus the daughter had been crazy to go get some attention from her mom. It went bad after that and we had a lot of trouble trying to get them to give her back. It was a very sad situation.
