Wrong Address

I wish you would stop
waiting for me like that
Sleeping love housed under your
grim wings doom
Your apartment is dim
where you stir noodles in boiling water
The kitchen's dark window
reveals nothing.
Not even the rain or the white stray cat
Red and black candles surround you
You light them cautiously
as if they were crude loud weapons

Someone knocks rapidly at the door
and you remain frozen and silent
But it eventually stops much to your relief -
The noodles boiling softly over
muffled footsteps fading down the hall
The stray cat screeching
at something unknown and terrifying
And the match's flame dangerously close
to the fingers of your still shaking hand.
