I'm planning on getting a gun in the next couple of weeks, but the choices are unbelievable. There are so many. This is like work.
So, this is for the people who really know their guns.
If you had to pick one , to defend yourself and your property (no hunting), money is no object, what would u buy? And nothing that is considered illegal by the government, as the laws stand today, so no machine guns or fully automatics

For defense inside a home in the city. I would say a
Shotgun!
Benelli M4 unless you expect zombie wave attacks then maybe A siaga 12 ga. with lots of spare mags.
For a car gun-go to work gun I would Go with a
Pistol:
Sig 226 elite in .40 cal
.357 Sig is better but hard to get right now. Buy a .357 Sig upper to swap out with the .40cal
For rural defense I say

Screw the M16 and all it's variants! It requires too much care and cleaning.
I am of the opinion that an SKS is the best Semi-Auto defense rifle on the market today. Some will argue, But I trust the SKS.
There are thousands of arguments for different designs and calibers, however I feel VERY confident in these recommendations.
Personally I believe in a large frame revolver with a semi-auto for backup.
