GIM is working for me today but has been hit or miss for the last several days...What I find odd is that when it has gone back "online" there haven't been any eq's in Virg./W. Virg. or Arkansas. I mention this because I have checked it several times a week for the last 8-9 months and there are always multiple small eq's in these regions, I watch it because I know they are doing Fracking there. But like I said it went from multiple everyday to zero so either there is a malfultion or data is being omitted on purpose. I guess it would be possible that all eq activity in these regions has stopped?

I'm in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Earlier this morning, the sky here was a mess of semi-circular chemtrails and vivid HAARP-sliced clouds (like egg-slicer marks). Now it's a hazy mess with some trails still visible behind the murk. Looks like the geoengineering PTB is going all out for this "blizzard of the century". Today we have record-breaking cold and tomorrow we get slammed with record-breaking snow, ice-pellets and wind. I realize this is winter, but such extremes are NOT natural, not here on east coast. Not anywhere.

The way the jetstream is being (badly) driven by the PTB's science minions reminds me of the Greek myth where Phaeton steals his father's sun-hauling chariot and drives it (badly), resulting in earthly weather-related disasters.

Have a look, you may find that this incoming storm is somehow connected to the largest antenna array in the North Eastern Hemisphere.

February 8, 2013 – ALASKA - Alaska’s Cleveland Volcano is heating up and scientists are on alert in case it sends up an ash cloud that could threaten trans-Pacific flights. The Alaska Volcano Observatory detected elevated surface temperatures Jan. 24 at Cleveland’s summit. Satellite data obtained last week indicated that a growing lava dome on the floor of the summit crater had reached about 328 feet, or 100 meters, in diameter. The summit crater itself is nearly 10 times that size, said Chris Waythomas of the U.S. Geological Survey. “It does this from time to time and it’s a fairly small lava dome,” he said Wednesday. “It’s not gigantic.”

EARTHQUAKE SUMMARY FOR FEBRUARY 9, 2013


A strong earthquake of M 6.9-7.0 hit the region of Colombia today at an intermediate depth. Because of the depth the earthquake was widely felt in the area. NEIC reported the earthquake was felt with moderate intensity in Panama, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela. The earthquake damaged more than 140 homes and caused minor injuries to eight people. The injuries were mostly in the El Charco municipality in Narino, Colombia. Among the damages were to health clinic and school. A church was destroyed. Evacuations occurred in Bogota and Manta. Cracks appeared in buildings in Bogota more than 500 km from the epicenter. No tsunami was generated. A power transformer exploded in Esmeralda, Ecuador knocking out power in that area. Roads, and bridges were largely undamaged however. Maximum shaking at intensity VII was felt in Quito, Ecuador; VI was reported from Jama and Santo Domingo, Ecuador. Intensity IV-V was felt in Ecuador at Tumbaco, Sua, San Vicente, Portoviejo, Perdernales, Otavalo, Montecristi, Mindo, Manta, Lta, Guayas, Guayaquil, Esmeraldas, El Quinche, El Carmen, Cumbaya, Cotacachi, Conocoto, Charapoto, Parroquia Santo Domingo de los Colorados, and in Colombia at Pupiales, Pasto, Pasca, Palmira, Medellin, Manizales, La Mesa, Jamundi, Ibague, Cartago and Cali. Lesser intensity of II-III was recorded in Panama at San Miguelito, Rio Hato, Penonome, Panama City, Juan Diaz, Colon, Boquete; Venezuela at Cagua, Caracas, Maracay, ; Ecuador at Riobamba, San Miguelito, San Blas, Salinas, Tarifa, Tena, Puerto Lopez, Parroquia Montecristi, Latacunga, La Mana, La Merced, Guanchanama, Guangopolo, Ibarra, Cuenca, Duran, Charapoto, and Colombia at Envigado, Facatativa, Chinchina, Chia, La Union, Mocoa, La Virgina, Tenjo. The quake was also felt lightly in northern Peru according to local media. This was one of three near antipodal groups of earthquakes today. An M 5.5 occurred in southern Sumatra within 200 km of the exact antipode of this event on February 6 at 1.4S 101E. Readers will recall that events are antipodal if the latitudes are the same and in opposite hemispheres and the longitudes are in opposite hemispheres and numerically add to 180. In this case latitudes of 1.4S and 1.2N and longitudes of 101E and 78W =179. Antipodal quakes may occur when surface energy is concentrated at the opposite point on the earth due to its spherical shape.


Several other factors also probably contributed to the occurrence of the Colombia earthquake at this time. Among these are the occurrence of the major winter storm Nemo which hit the eastern and northeastern United States today. We have argued in this summary on many previous occasions that such storms move the plate and trigger earthquakes along the western plate boundaries with the Pacific plate. In the past two issues of this summary we have pointed out that this storm could have significant consequences to the seismicity along the American-Pacific Plate boundary. In August and September, 2012 we made the connection between several major hurricanes, most notably Isaac, and major earthquakes along the South and Central American plate boundary from Mexico south to Panama and Colombia. The coincidence between today's storm and the earthquake in Colombia is not the first time this has occurred. Exactly 43 years ago, a similar storm on February 5-7, 1967, for instance (ranked as the 35th worst ever recorded) was followed by a similar earthquake of M 7.4 in Colombia on February 9, 1967. That earthquake killed 98 and injured 300 in Colombia and was much more damaging than today's event (see history section). In recent years many large earthquakes in this general area have occurred in association with severe storms in eastern U.S. In the past 60 years all earthquakes of M>7 in Colombia have occurred in the limited period between December 12 and March 6 - these were events on January 19, 1958 (M 7.8); February 9, 1967 (M 7.4); December 12, 1979 (M 7.9) and March 6, 1987 (M 7.1). Obviously not all major winter storms are followed by strong earthquakes along the American-Pacific plate boundary but there are enough to be suggestive of a relation.


Geomagnetic effects could also have influenced the timing of today's earthquake in Colombia. A strong C-class solar flare began today at 05:30 UT. This is within 15 minutes of local solar midnight in Colombia, a maximum time for Solar flare effects on seismicity.


Another factor which was discussed in this summary yesterday in regard to a strong earthquake at this time is tidal effects from the new moon which arrived on the morning of February 10. The last major earthquake in Colombia was an M 7.3 on September 30, 2012. This occurred within hours of the full moon alignment whereas the previous event in the general area – Ecuador on August 12, 2010 was two days after the new moon of August 10, 2010. The expectation of tidal triggering is amplified as all of these events occurred at intermediate depth where tidal triggering of seismicity is more likely. Expanding the region a bit to include Panama the last strong earthquake in Panama was an M 6.4 on June 4, 2012. This occurred within half a day of a partial lunar eclipse of June 4, 2012. The previous such Panamanian earthquake (M 6.3) occurred on March 12, 2009 the day after the full moon of March 11, 2009. So, in recent years, the record is clear for earthquakes in Colombia and Panama there is a strong tidal component as five of five events of M>6 in the area in the past five years have occurred within 0-2 days of a full or new moon alignment.

EARTHQUAKE SUMMARY FOR FEBRUARY 10, 2013

The strongest earthquake of the day was an M 6.3 aftershock in the Santa Cruz Islands. Some of these aftershocks have been damaging in themselves. One of the larger aftershocks damaged a critical wharf at Lata. Relief workers cannot drive vehicles on the wharf after the aftershock and this has significantly slowed relief efforts as all ships must be unloaded by hand. Entire villages were washed away by the tsunami generated by the M 8.0 in the Santa Cruz Islands last week. In another development pungent steam has been rising from cracks in the ground in the area of the earthquake. The epicenter is near the Tinakula volcano and this may indicate plumbing changes in the volcano which could lead to a subsequent eruption.

The most unusual earthquake of the day was an M 3.9 in Jamaica. It was widely felt in the Saint Elizabeth, Westmoreland, Saint James and Trelawney regions of Jamaica. NEIC reported intensity V in Savanna la Mar; IV in Fullerswood, Montego Bay and Wakefield and III in Black River, Culloden and Mackfield, Jamaica. This is the second earthquake felt in the Caribbean in the past two days. The other was an M 5.0-5.3 in the region of Grenada and Trinidad yesterday. This earthquake was felt lightly in St. George's, St. David's and St. Andrew in Grenada as well as in Trinidad and in Tobago. The earthquake in Jamaica is the strongest located in that region since a series in May and August, 2011 of M 4.2, 4.4 and 4.7.
