What cures IBS? Please help
I've had IBS diarrhea for over a year now. I've had a colonoscopy done annd they didn't find anything and labled me with IBS. I've been put on dycyclomine, lomotil, and other meds and nothing has worked. I am only 20 years old. What wakes me up in the morning is the need to go take a shit, it's terrible. I also am bloated often and do not eat much. Does anyone have a cure to this? Thank you!

Wonder if I have that, I'm always constipated and haven't had a proper dump in weeks/months. I'm pretty much either constipated or having runny poop, sorry for being gross. Maybe it's the crap that's put into food, idk but I don't eat any better than I alway have (though maybe a little more) and this crap only started probably last year.

Read up on Parasite and Candida cleanse's...many times these two types of annoying "bugs"/bacteria can wreck HAVOC on our stomachs, leading to all kinds of IBS type symptoms!

Try intermittent fasting. Let your insides rest a while. Then slowly start incorporating foods back in to see which ones are bothering you. I would start with low carb and/or gluten-free products. IF is good for the body. It's more of a modern-day phenoma to eat 3 big meals a day.

going gluten free has been one of the best things I have done for my digestive system! I had no idea how much digestive inflammation I had from eating gluten! blah!

Could be this, although it's gluten not carbs, could also be lactose. Could be GM crops, the corn is modified to contain it's own pesticide which pokes wholes in the digestion systems of insects, there has been studies done and found this also occurs in mice that eat the GM corn.(Which is in almost everything) Along with infertility after just 3 generations of GM corn fed mice.

Could also be IBD, Ulcerative Colitis or Crohns disease. Ask your doctor.

This is easy to try and I hope you can get off the meds as they are sure to have unwanted side effects.

"I had huge amounts of antibiotics after having cosmetic surgery and my IBS symptoms (which I had been keeping within a mostly bearable place with eating gluten free, dairy free and never eating to much carbs diet) went completely beserk.

My intolerances to food increased including more foods than before. Two months after the taking the antibiotics I still had constant diarrhea, sharp gas pains, tiredness and constant lower bowel, and lower back pain.So I decided (because this all occured after taking the antibiotics) to go back to my old theory that IBS is actually a Candida (Yeast) problem.

I did some internet research and found info on "Symbion" from somebody who has used this probiotic for his candida/IBS. I decided totry it but when I really looked at the whole candida problem (thanks to finding Bee's Candida Site)

I realized Ineeded to bite the bullet and start a real low carb/high fat diet according to Bee's protocol.

I have been on it for 5 months now. The pain stopped after a very short amount of time, the diarrhea took about 2 months, I can eat butter now :)my last period was so much better, my perimenopausal flashes went, I don't get bloated after a meal, no more wind in the bowels that can't be released and more.

Bee also has a Yahoo group where you can write in and ask for questions or reasurrance when the going gets a little tough as she knows exactly whatcan happen with people on her diet. This is a great help"

Cut out all hydrogenated and MSG (look a up all the names). So no chain restaurants and no packaged crap. Trader joes and whole foods for the most part. Or all fresh veggies and fruit. No fast food period!

I did this 7 years ago and have no ibs symptoms to this day. Took about a month, before they went away.

Thank you for your input. Changing my diet just seems like such a difficult thing to do for me right now. Don't get me wrong of course I am attempting to eat healthier, but I am in college and there really isn't that much of a selection of healthy food and I don't have that much money to go out and buy all the foods I need. Are there any OTC or herbal remedies that work? I read dichotamous earth and aloe vera work

i completly cured my issues of IBS, gastric reflux, bloating and burning asshole by stopping the intake of all GMO grains and all dairy. I eat little or no red meat little chix (only my birds) and no pork. I eat fish, eggs (my chix eggs) and laghums for protiens. I eat a plant based diet mostly raw. I lost 135lbs and eat more volume. I am now steady at 180 and 5ft 11. I excersize every day by cycling and hiking.
Now my immune system has even become normal and i have no issues with pain any more. The list of issues i curred is huge. My Dr wanted to prescribe all kinds of shit and i took them only making it worse. Now no meds and all is great and Sat I turn 50.
GOOD LUCK!

Lots of good advice on here and I would also add homemade fermented and pickled foods. Cabbage is especially good. Make your own homemade sauerkraut. Make some cabbage rejuvelac. Here's a recipe for you.

Talk to your doctor about the antibiotic they give for travelers diarrhea- having great success and about to get off-label approval for IBS-D. It is called rifaximin (Xifaxan). Good luck, I know how bad it sucks!

I'd like to help if I can. I've been studying and using herbs and plants to heal myself for years since modern medicine just masks problems and doesn't cure them. I had epilepsy and really bad abdominal cramps that nothing seemed to help with, found out it was due to my diet, no one would believe it though but I don't have either anymore since I learned about herbs.

Give me the entire list of everything and I mean everything that you eat first.

Re: What cures IBS? Please help
First, change what you eat! Try getting rid of bread and other wheat based products. If you can afford it there's gluten free replacements, else just do without. Make meat be only a complimentary dish, not the main course (or go full vegetarian if you are up to that).

Stop eating processed foods! Most of premade grocery store foods are full of strange chemicals and such.. Buy raw, cook it yourself!

Make sure to eat some kind of fiber! While staying away from gluten products. A lil bit of fiber cereal in the morning for instance..

Probiotic Yogurt! That new yogo yogurt is actually pretty good, although I've only tried banana/coconut and the berry one. I usually don't like yogurt but these are ok.

Exercise! Get those stomach muscles grown so you can put the right pressures in the right places when trying to go, if you know what I mean. Learn to breathe properly (from your belly up, not the other way around - lots of info on the net about this, and you may recall the Incredible Hulk guy getting training from a martial arts expert in Peru, diaphragm!)

Laxatives aren't going to help much except to release the pressure, so to speak, but causing other issues, because it's not constipation, it's more like some valve somewhere is not opening properly or something.

My boyfriend suffers from diverticulitis, ibs and lactose intolerance. We found that so long as we keep the processed and gmo foods down to a minimum, anything with lactose to a minimum and taking acidophilus pills he doesn't have to suffer the pains of being in the bathroom all day.

He noticed that after a bout of diverticulitis that the antibiotics the doctors gave him helped the infections it set everything else out of balance.

You need good bacteria in your bowel as as much as the fecal transplant may be a quick fix alternative. The acidophilus has really helped him maintain a relatively normal gut.

Potatoes, rice and other root vegetables seem to help get him through his day.

I hope for the best for you. I have never experienced it myself but watching the improvement of my boyfriends happiness and comfort is proof enough it works.

Re: What cures IBS? Please help
I've had IBS since I was 9. I have been through much of what you have with a colonoscopy (twice), endoscopy, even took "trial drugs" when all the other medications failed. I am now 33 and still have IBS but cannabis really does help it in an amazing way. I have not found any medication OTC or prescription that worked. The only thing that gave me mild relief was drinking Metamucil daily and when I did that 2 to 3 times a day I would notice a decrease in the number of times a day I would go but that was about it. It didn't really "firm" it up like it was supposed to.

Aside of cannabis there is one other thing i discovered was causing my IBS to be incredibly worse in the mornings. This is crazy but I cannot drink water for about 2 hours after I wake up. Milk or juice is fine but if I have even one drink of water I will be in the bathroom the entire morning and feel horrible for the entire day.

Good luck, I know it sucks so bad. Its so frustrating to live your life always needing to know where the nearest bathroom is and hoping to make it there on time.
