Maguyver User ID: 808852 United States 02/07/2013 11:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've had IBS diarrhea for over a year now. I've had a colonoscopy done annd they didn't find anything and labled me with IBS. I've been put on dycyclomine, lomotil, and other meds and nothing has worked. I am only 20 years old. What wakes me up in the morning is the need to go take a shit, it's terrible. I also am bloated often and do not eat much. Does anyone have a cure to this? Thank you! Quoting: aaron26 You might be gluten intollerant. My brother is and didn't realize it and the change has really made him better. He had an upset belly all the time and though that was normal somehow. Also, try juicing for a few weeks. You'll get an abundnance of good nutrients that way and it has a tendancy to clean out your digestive track if you have issues there. Give it a try, really! Adversity is inevitable, misery is optional. Do or do not. There is no try. "The enemy will never attack where you are strongest...He will attack where you are weakest. Speak to a NATUROPATHIC doctor about a full body detox. Today, right now, stop eating ALL wheat and dairy. As in - you need to 101% GLUTEN AND DAIRY FREE with no cheating, starting right now, as you read this. Fudge it and you'll be sorry, but if you have the discipline, you'll be cured. |

Lulu-girl User ID: 33875033 Canada 02/07/2013 12:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My boyfriend suffers from diverticulitis, ibs and lactose intolerance. We found that so long as we keep the processed and gmo foods down to a minimum, anything with lactose to a minimum and taking acidophilus pills he doesn't have to suffer the pains of being in the bathroom all day. Quoting: Lulu-girl He noticed that after a bout of diverticulitis that the antibiotics the doctors gave him helped the infections it set everything else out of balance. You need good bacteria in your bowel as as much as the fecal transplant may be a quick fix alternative. The acidophilus has really helped him maintain a relatively normal gut. Potatoes, rice and other root vegetables seem to help get him through his day. I hope for the best for you. I have never experienced it myself but watching the improvement of my boyfriends happiness and comfort is proof enough it works. thank you, i've heard many people suggest acidophilus I will give it a shot You are very welcome. I can only hope you have as much success with it as he has. He has tried pills and drinks and whatever else the doctor's prescribed and none had any positive impact. They just made him feel worse in other ways And to add to the popular responses on here, during an attack cannabis does help alleviate the pain and discomfort and just settles things down naturally. Helps you get back on track with eating as well so long as you don't give into munchie cravings :). Good luck! ** To boldly go ** |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 33713710 United States 02/07/2013 12:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had the same problem for years, cycle of constipation followed by diarrhea and bouts of unbearable heartburn and bloating. 4 doctors told me it was IBS and there was really nothing to help. I cut out wheat based carbs (gluten) for the most part and no problems. My diet is high protein, lots of leafy green vegetables, and good fats. No processed foods or fast food, and I'm good. if I make the mistake and think I can eat a slice of pizza, I'm miserable for days. It's not always easy, but the difference you see will make it worth it. Not to mention I lost 20 lbs without even really trying. |
Judge Smails User ID: 1330416 United States 02/07/2013 01:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | After MANY years of suffering, I'll tell you what mine was (and is for many people). Not that everyone with IBS symptoms have this, but many do and don't know it. Gallbladder not working properly. That's it. Too much bile getting into your intestines and wreaking havoc. Have an internist check your gallbladder. They can tell you it's working at x% of what it should be. Believe me, I tried everything. Some days one food that wouldn't bother me suddenly would...and vice versa. No rhyme or reason. Then one day my gallbladder really acted up. Had gallstones, etc, and was told it needed removed. Dr told me this affects a lot of people that had a general IBS diagnosis previously. Some normal people (non-IBS) when they have their gallbladder removed become IBS-ish and have trouble like that. Since you already have those symptoms, they will probably get worse once it's out (mine took 6 months after surgery to really kick in and become horrible). So what's the good news? You can take a medication that basically soaks up the bile - Cholestyramine [link to en.wikipedia.org] It was originally used for lowering cholesterol (bonus effect! lol), but the anti-bile is a nice side effect. Who knows, if someone has a reduced operational gallbladder, maybe they can keep it and just add the medication. That's probably better. If it is low functioning, though, they just want to take it out. My short story is - IBS for 25 years - gallbladder attack/removal - add cholestyramine. I am now more "normal" than "normal" people. :) Saved my life. Hopefully this helps someone... Note: some people say taking the medication is bad - it is in powder form and doesn't dissolve great. Put a couple ounces of orange juice in a glass and shake it up for 5-10 seconds. Tastes good and makes it easily drinkable. With water it BLOWS. NEVER do that! LOL |

You can do it now or wait till it gets worse. I hear it often the reason people don't change their diet is because of money. I don't know of a store or fast food place that gives away free junk food... Either way you have to spend money. I suggest spending your money on food that heals you not harm you. Cut your dairy and gluten and I think you will be happy. Good luck to you! |
