I think, and this is just speculation, so take it for what it's worth, that while you are generally right, in this case the flow of events might well be changed.

This isn't a spree killer. He's acting as something different, having specific targets in mind and jockeying for position. He may also be willing to use strategy to meet his objective, since that's his greatest strength compared to those he's hunting at the moment.


He probably won't stop until, as you mentioned, he's stopped, I agree there. Unless he has another plan in place, there's no reason for him too.

But a break of a few hours, or even days, might not mean he killed himself in this case. He might be simply alluding the police and trying to work himself into a better position.

If he has any patience left, he can take out a lot more of his perceived enemies than if he simply sprays bullets around.

Right now he has the police panicked so much they're shooting unarmed people, in case he's a shapeshifter or something. (Or just botching that badly.) That made the police even edgier, because now they've been told to make sure of their shots first, which will slow them done. They know that, which means they're now very, very afraid.

That may well be used to their detriment.

Or the dude may have put a bullet in his head. I doubt that's his plan though. There are too many people that walk away without being punished if he does that.

He has a goal that's outside of himself, so to end this, the police either have to kill him or convince him that his mission has ended.

I'm betting that he has various cars stashed around southern cali. He has been preparing for a long time and has had plenty of time to plan it out.

I think he had a vehicle stashed up in Big Bear. He drove to it, set his known car on fire, drove away in the new one. He can drive back down to LA, shoot some LEs tonight, escape and drive to his next vehicle, burn the one that has been sighted, drive off in the clean one, rinse and repeat. He will eventually kill himself but he didn't go to all this trouble just to kill one or two LEs. I think he wants them to be in a state of terror for awhile.
