Anyone know how long to grill a salmon steak?

As long as you put some kind of oil of them and spray your grill, the salmon should not stick.

I like smothering my salmon with mayonaise and crushed garlic.

As for the grill, salmon cooks fast, I would say, no longer than 15 minutes.

If you cook it too long it will be dry.

the reason why it sticks to the grill is because the grill cools too much when you put the fish on.

look up plank grilled fish on the net, this solves the sticking problem...

could be anywhere from 4-12 hours, depending on what kind of torture tactics and how much information you need to get out of it. They can be pretty closed mouthed, so count on the max time frame. good luck

To keep the fish from breaking up turn only once, don´t keep flipping it...brush oil on grill & fish....6-9 mins...fish has a tendency to continue cooking after taken off grill...ppl tend to overcook it...

One minute I don´t want salmon tar tar. I think I´ll go with 12 minutes. 6 each side. The foil sounds good I´ll use a little olive oil and with luck it will slide right off. Thank Guys, even you Mr Tar Tar.........

I prefer salmon raw

Butter or olive oil applied lightly a few minutes before grilling

depends how you like it, well 15 minutes (on a Webber) rare 8 minutes

Grill it until it flakes apart easily with a fork. If the meat does not separate easily it is not done. Only takes a few minutes on each side.

Here´s how I grill salmon and it turns out great:


Instead of getting steaks, get a side of salmon cut lengthwise. Rub olive oil on the skin and grill it skin side down (no need to turn it over). Mix mayonaise and BBQ sauce together in equal portions. Slather it on the salmon as soon as it goes on the grill. It cooks down into the meat as it´s grilling.

one tip....once you place the fish on the grill, don´t move it around until flipping time. That reduces the sticking.

You don´t really have to cook it that long to be safe. There is not much risk if you eat it raw. It is more a matter of personal taste.

Seriously folks, I am a chef, cover with blackening and lemon mediuim heat, Until flakes separate easily!

One hour on each side until black NOT BLACKENED!

you might as well boil it to peaces and soak it in mayonaise to keep the dryeness of your tung .

If you take it out of the can it cooks faster

Salmon sushi is the only kind of sushi I like. All other raw fish species taste weird to me. Salmon tastes good raw.

Dont use Aluminum foil! makes the fish taste nasty, try plank grilling it on applewood...anything but aluminum foil!

A folding grill is good the rule is 10 min. for each inch of thickness. I cook until the flesh flakes. Keep it simple salmon doesnt need a lot of faireing up....KISS...KISS.(keep it simple stupid).
