Not rhythmic. Not mechanical, but almost like a deep bass reverb echo but penetrating through the air.

A deep penetrating bass reverb echo. The war of the worlds sounds more mechanical in nature, this was not.

Am watching this one right now to see if any of them are like what I heard

We heard sounds this summer we can't explain. It was not as musical as the war of worlds tripod sounds. Inside we thought it was distant thunder but we realized after maybe a half hour that it was odd. Went outside and it was really creepy. It was rhythmic and mechanical. We expected aliens to decsend from the sky. Our neighbor stepped out, it was already dark. We discussed the sound for a minute. Then she left and it faded away.
