Check the humane society, someone probaly caught her and turned her in...
Drive up and down the streets, she could have been run over
Theres also cat haters out there that trap cats regularly and drown them

One week dont sound good.

Ive had cats all my life and most theyve been gone is 48 hours.

Re: What's the longest time your cat has run away?
Two weeks. He was an un-neutered male that was about a year and a half old. Semi-ferrel... He was out in the country with a lot of open space. I looked and looked driving on a bike on the neighborhood roads. Asked some people. Then one day he showed up in the morning two weeks later. He was a little undernourished but OK. I've heard stories where it was a month or months. Never give up hope.

Coyotes?

Or maybe the cat knew it was sick and went off to die.

My wife's kitty took off for 3 weeks once. We searched daily and found nothing. then we came home one day and the furry little twerp was laying in the sun in the front yard acting as though nothing had happened.

Had a female cat leave for 6 months. Thought she was gone and then came back one day, healthy and as if nothing happened.

That was 12 years ago. Last year the brother of that cat wandered off for a month. Probably lived off the mice in the nearby fields.

Cats are silly. And they love a good walkabout.

I had a cat that adopted another flop. It came back a few months later to say hi but took off again. Saw it one or two more times and a kid that said it was his cat. I guess the critter knew that I planned on moving and had no place for a country cat.

Last spring I found my neighbors cat turned inside-out and stripped to bare bones, I didn't have the heart to tell the kid her kitty was eaten by a coyote, we have a lot of them around here.
In the 80's we had a cat that went feral 6 months out of the year for about 5 years, then he never came back.
Cats aren't all that bright, hope he comes back soon.

My cat ran away for a little over a month once! She chased a possum off my porch. I looked for her every day riding my bike up and down every street, I lived at the beach with lots of traffic, so I called pound and cops every day. I had literally given up hope until one night I walked into my garage and I saw a pair of eyes under my car.
I thought "no way" .....I sat down and called to her and slowly she came out from under the car. Dirty and super skinny, but it was her! Strange thing is that she had never even been in my garage! I left my front patio doors open all night hoping she would come back, and I find her in my garage, a place she didnt know!
Cats are well equiped to survive in almost any surrounding. DOnt give up! She was gone for 6 weeks total. Now she is back and a fat kitty again!

Re: What's the longest time your cat has run away?
my cat has only 5 lives left
its true a cat has 9 lives
those are the ones i know of

he was missing for 2 weeks
he was locked up in my neighbors shop

no food or water....think he was living on mice
he sure was skinny

my neighbors left the shop door open at night then shut it not knowing he was in there then they did not go in there.

1 day i thought he might be in there and thought i heard him crying. asked my neighbor to oprn up and ge came out

he sure was skinny. he was fixed at 4 months old
my siberan husky almost killed him when he was just 5 weeks old. punctered his skin near his stomach and broke his leg.

he was a wild kitten that i fed the mother and other litter mates to tame
grizzly is his name...he is a kool cat
been to the vet twice both times could of died

My kitty goes out for a few hours a day in the winter but in the summer she'll want to stay out longer, maybe 6 hours. She always comes in to sleep at night and then wants to go out around 4 a.m. and then comes back in at 6:30 a.m. to eat and sleep.

2 weeks would be the absolute max, I mean someone could have took it too. Cats normally aren't gone more than 3 or 4 days max in rural areas.

We had a cat run outside and he was gone for 2 weeks. We thought he was gone for good. Then I heard him meowing out side the front door in the middle of the night. He was very thin and looked like he had a tough time, but he was ok. Have hope!

Really hope your cat returns.

To me, letting a cat outside would be like letting a 3 yr. old outside. I'd be sick with worry. The lifespan of an outdoor cat is considerably shorter for obvious reasons.

I never tell anyone after the barn door is left open what they should have done but I really feel strongly about this.

hf for your cat.

Re: What's the longest time your cat has run away?
At sunset go outside and call in all four directions. Pitch your voice low, then high so you are sending in different frequencies. Aim your voice up above horizon level and send the sound far. Call several times in each direction.

I have a bunch of cats, including a family of four feral darlings who are now ten months old. They don't come in when I call them, they just come whenever they feel like it, pisses me off.

My other cat is fourteen and she is trained to come when I call her. I trained her to come when she was about ten weeks old. I also habituated her to a dog whistle by blowing it right when I feed her. Now if she takes off for a couple of hours, I just have to go outside and blow the whistle and she shows up within fifteen minutes.

We used to feed a local feral cat at our door, Boots. He was a sweety, came to eat every morning and evening. One day he vanished and I thought the coyotes got him. He showed up one evening about three months later, ate, then disappeared again. I just saw him again Monday morning, it's been about six months this time. So, even if your kitty doesn't come back, it doesn't mean there is anything necessarily wrong, they have fun outdoors.

Put your information and some pictures on Craigslist, too. Try not to worry, they can pretty much take care of themselves and even if totally gone, they can make friends with a new person and get fed and loved. Please don't stress yourself. One way or another, your kitty will be alright.hugs
