Re: Police Officer Slaps US Soldier
The mind does boggle!

What the hell are you talking about? The guy had been robbed and assaulted and he gave a little attitude as he was obviously pissed off so how does this constitute him being a liberal or how does it have anything to do with eugenics? If you support such behaviour by the police then we are very clearly not on the same side as I do not support a dictatorship where police have threats hitting people because they've heard somebody say something they don't like.

Put yourself in the victims position and see how polite and cheerful you are if your stuff has been dumped on the front lawn and you've taken hits by the perps. I suspect you'd take the same stance as most have in this thread which is that physical violence is wrong when dealing with disgruntled members of the public. Words should have been used to diffuse the situation.

You talk about toeing the line, well, that depends where the line is painted and whether it's susceptible to move at the police's whim. At the end of the day it was this guy that called the cops for assistance. He was not the perpetrator of any crime which makes the cops reaction even more unreasonable and uncalled for.

Re: Police Officer Slaps US Soldier
What a rubbish excuse for a man. I just *** in my toilet and it looks more human than this cop does to me.

What I find so extremely amusing now, is the immense IRONY. If you understand something about the human psyche or the soul, you will see that this cop hardly has one. The irony is, in an attempt to make him BETTER than the VICTIM, he punches the guy. His *** mind feels a sense of gratification. The gratification makes him feel superior. But its an illusion. He ain't superior to this kid. He never was, never is, and never will be. What he is in reality is ***. Just as he is here now. Once he passes away from this world of ILLUSION and the lie his ego keeps him in, he will find himself in a world of pain, and ugliness. He will see himself as he really is, a soulless body that has feces for limbs, with *** arms, hands in the shape of ***, feet, toes and a head all made out of ***. He will scurry away in the crevices of hell envying the cockroaches for their superior body parts. In his anguish he will wonder why he is what he is. And then he will remember all his indecencies. Then on his return he may have more modesty towards other people. So, this guy, if his brain is executing some reward mechanism for punching this guy to the ground and feeling stronger, think again. You ain't better! He is horribly hideous and ugly inside. SHAME ON YOU SHITBAG!

To add to this, this guy is a total shit repository.

Re: Police Officer Slaps US Soldier
If he is truly a Soldier, he did not act like one. Him and his fist-line supervisor NCO both need adjustments. NCO's are Leader/Trainers, and this Soldier is clearly lacking the mentorship of a Good NCO.

1. My Soldiers, don't get mouthy and disrespectful with "State-side" Law Enforcement.

2. My Soldiers would have fought back, like a Combat Soldier.

3. My Soldiers would have Called Me before dialing 911 and I would have brought the necessary Man-Power to deal with whatever situation arises.

4. If the Local Policing Force needs the Adjustment, the adjustment would come at a time they least expect it and it would be overwhelming and overpowering. Just like we did back at Fort Polk, LA in the 1990's

*After seeing the video of the Former Marine/Police SGT. act as he did, I would have counseled my Soldier and had him work for the Police department a few weekends in their Motor pool as corrective training

The Former Marine/Police SGT. made an "On the Spot Correction
" and even excepted the young disrespectful Soldiers apology.

End of Incident.

Good old boys from yesteryear......yada, yada. Still missing the point. Just one thing......The ex marine cop is now a civilian police officer. His job is to protect and serve. Not beat a light weight smart ass kid into submission. A few well chosen words could have worked. But, why bother....violence and degradation is so much more fun. Especially if you're a big fat tub of shit. Good thing he didn't have to chase the kid.

You remind me of the 23 year old crying in front of our platton because he was called soom pretty nasty names and humilated.....rightly so, Called a weakly coward motherf&*r by our DI.......Cried like a little bitch, glad he washed out due to his tantrums of "hurt feelings" he was.
 Quoting: AdHocBOHICA

I heard him say he was a reservist later in the video, obviously trying to profile. When your were DI'ing or NCO'ing and you ran across this type of hyped up attitude, remember this dude just got beat up so hid manhood was already threatened, would you ever take a position of " Take a breath and think soldier, reset that attitude, before this become official?" Just interested because NCO's must run across lots of hyped up nervous young guy's. In regards to your last comment, some people should never be in the army, hate to think that they are a write off as a person because they cant adjust to that type of thing.

This is not someone you are dealing with on the street though so your logic does not work here. If police are allowed to act this way without any comeback what do you suppose would happen? They'd start using this approach in more situations on people that didn't actually deserve what happened to them.

And for the record I am 43, though why that has any relevance on the situation is beyond me. As I said, the victim was annoyed at the police taking a long time and he expressed it.

You attitude is one of roll over and do what your told. Why even come here if you are happy with such levels of dictatorship?
 Quoting: Defj@m

I am not one to be happy with any sort of dictatorship or police state I live in one and have done for a very long time, Northern Ireland isn't an easy example of that. I just pursued your way of thinking as I likened it to myself and wanted a debate of sorts with someone that fought for a liberal way of thinking. I have lost a lot of friends and family to so called liberal revolutionary thinking. I just wondered how you thought about that?
 Quoting: Papa_lazarou

Well, I'm not a liberal. Far from it in fact but I do know the difference between right and wrong. If the cop had hit this guy in self defence then I would have the opposing argument but you can't go smacking people when you are at work for criticism of how well or poorly you are carrying out said job.

Easily diffused situation with words that actually escalated into violence for no reason at all other than criticism of time taken. Acceptable behaviour? No. Acceptable in self defence? Yes.
 Quoting: Defj@m

I agree it escalated well above and beyond what it should have done but that young fella had no right to stand up to the law like he did. Where I come from we fought the law and we won (Northern Ireland) so do you agree then in the way you are thinking that this is the right way to go? Should it be anarchy like we had here. And still have
 Quoting: Papa_lazarou

We are not talking about Northern Ireland. We are talking about this incident and did I say that anyone should have retaliated against the cop? Stick to the facts dude. The cop assaulted the guy, this should not be allowed to set precedent. Don't try and twist this to some political or anarchists agenda. There are plenty of other threads discussing such things.

Maybe that's why you are having trouble grasping why this is so wrong because you are comparing it to a situation in your own place. It's not, it's in the US.

The last part of your whine I do agree with though. Someone probably has got it in for him, hence releasing the video. If he treats his colleagues even remotely close to how he treats that kid then it's easily to see why someone would want him gone.

I am sorry...but the police are entirely wrong. Now, think of this. The kid got hit by the perpetrators who robbed his house. The police should have been their right away or sent help because this person could have needed medical attention and was obviously in some sort of dangerous situation.
If the kid had anything like a concussion, it could also make him act strangely.
But, even if he was okay, he had every right to get a little "mouthy" -- that's his freedom of speech as a citizen. Police are public servants. Do you think the police would gone all bully or beat up...oh, I don't know, an older, well-to do Lawyer or Business Person or a nice elderly Jewish lady? NO! And they shouldn't beat up this kid just because he is complaining about their delay, either! He was injured, to top it off. He has just as much rights to speak his mind as anyone else without being abused by Police.

Power-hungry cops. This man was clearly in shock from being hit and an attempted robbery. The cop is an aggressive jerk who wants to maintain his power in the situation. This is why cops suck. Enforcing the law does not mean you're above it and can assault anyone you want, much less the victim of a crime.

I hope this cop spends just a few days in jail, with the general population. Maybe his ego can be brought back down to size.

Depends on the troop and the situation/mission. If any NCO or DI from the past couple decades tells you that he slapped or punched a soldier (unless in self defense) as matter of his policy probably has a spot on his record. There are exceptions to the rule like being downrange for one. I've used the approach you're talking about most (99.9%) of the time with different lingo. Back in the day, while I was a trainee, I watched a DI kick a trainee up some stairs. When I became a DI If you did that (not saying it didn't happen) you got to see the old man and at the very least you were "off status" for duration of the investigation. For a regular NCO the rules weren't so stringent depending on the situation. There are other ways to handle the situation. Same applies for officers, "you do not put your hands on the troops unless it's extraordinary circumstances" period. The Corps is a LITTLE more lax about it, not much though. The days of "Full Metal Jacket" have been gone for a long time. You might be able to get by with it provided none of the trainees never blab. The regs and UCMJ are pretty clear about that. The only time I can reacll I punched somebody in the chest while I was "on the trail" (DI status) was performing CPR on a trainee that "died" (I think) while doing morning PT.
