First off I'm Dutch, which means I'm über-Germanic. Second, the Germans stole the name Deutsch from the Dutch(aka Diets which means volk). Thirdly, Dutch is the oldest West-Germanic language on which both German and English are based on. Point four, the name Germany is a joke since the majority of Germans are of Slavic and Roman descent. There's nothing Germanic about them. The Dutch however are 100% proper Saxons. Five, Hollands GDP per capita is higher as Germany's. Six the best part of Germany is the Northern-Western part. Seven, there's only one real Deutschland(Dietsland) and that's Holland.

Ever since I traveled to Switzerland and Austria as a highschool student I have admired Germany and it's culture.I studied German language in school but am not fluent.One day I will make it back to Europe and visit Germany finally.I guess as a American I have some German ancestry but not enough to call myself German . That's O.K. because I feel German. I really do . I love the music, architecture,language,customs.The would would be a better place if we all tried to live a little more like Germans.

The bad news for us American's is it looks like we are experiencing a facist takeover like Germany did in it's past. My only hope is that they and the rest of the world will forgive us for the pain we are about to inflict on the world. As a American I apologize . God Bless us all.

Hoffmann von Fallersleben was one of the most popular poets of the modern Germany. In politics he ardently sympathized with the progressive tendencies of his time, and he was among the earliest and most effective of the political poets who prepared the way for the outbreak of 1848. As a poet, however, he acquired distinction chiefly by the ease, simplicity and grace with which he gave expression to the passions and aspirations of daily life. Although he had not been scientifically trained in music, he composed melodies for many of his songs, and a considerable number of them are sung by all classes in every part of Germany.

Among the best known is the patriotic "Das Lied der Deutschen" which starts with the words Deutschland, Deutschland über alles and is set to a 1797 tune by Joseph Haydn. The lyrics were written in 1841 on the island of Helgoland, then in British possession.[2] The text of the song expresses the pan-German sentiments common in revolutionary republicans of the period and were highly inflammatory in the princedoms of the German-speaking world. This sentiment was, of course, considered high treason. The phrase über alles did not refer to militant ideas of conquest of foreign countries, but to the need for loyalty to a united Germany to replace all other regional loyalties.

True, but the majority of the Dutch are Saxons. However Slavs, Romans and Gauls aren't Germanic, yet they are a huge part of Germany's demogaphics. So what's your point? Again, the name Germany doesn't make any sense. Central Europe was basically one big steaming meltingpot. That's why Holland counts its blessing that it was never part of the German empire. We don´t belong in an empire with Slavs. Too cool for that. We set sail and did our own thing. And that's why the Dutch are Europe's finest. The best and brightest of the goddamn continent by far.
