How Deutsch are you? Positive Germany thread

Well, now where the Western Countries are more or less united we fight with the help of UN / NATO against Middle East...

Can anyone tell me what high and loe Deutsch is? Rather hear it from a real person than internet!

In the early 90's, I had penpals from Germany who sent me thousands of collectible stickers.

It's dialect...hochdeutsch (southern Germany) and niederdeutsch (northern Germany)...the North isn't elevated as much.

My grandma could really cut a rug at the oktoberfest. So much so you'd think those guys in lederhosen playing accordions were rock stars.

Maybe Americans suffer from a collective indentity-crisis. I can't even imagine what it would feel like to be American. I'd probably would do the same thing. And yeah, you'll always be an American to Europeans. That's what you are. New world, new people.

Hochdeutsch (high german) is the form you write in german.

Like,

Hallo. Ich komme aus Deutschland.

In Germany are many different area's with dialects...like the South, Bavaria.

You would say.

"Servus. I kimm as Bayern."

Lower German is spoken in the North

In the early years of the U.S. Continental Congress, there was a vote as to the agreed-upon language that the U.S. collectively would speak. English (mother tongue of Britain) won by 3 votes over German. GERMAN WAS SECOND! Others : Dutch, French, Spanish followed.

Well, Prussia was big...but you can say from the North, maybe Poland today

I think on some level the attitude is more like a child/parent thing rather than an identity crisis.

The long lost "child" goes to great lengths to finally go "home" only to be told by the "parent", "You're not mine".

Out identity is AMERCAN, where we came from is just childish bantor. One thing about North America, you can go from NYC to Seattle to Voncouver to Asutin...all the same. I have spent much time in the so called MOTHERland...In italy, I have never met more racist, fucking shocked to have to change a coash on a train, Paris. same evil contempt fot other. Yeah , we have out problems...but nothing like my experiences in Europe. And my European frinds who stay with me in California, they are suprised at how tranquil out life is...For the most part, we leave our doors open. And when my usual friend from England came over, they were shocked when I left the other cars keys on the sidewalk (when I had to move my vehicle when my PARTENR was away)...He was apoplectic in shock...Siad we would NEVR do that in Engalnd. I said we are in California...deal with it.

I liked Germany. I thought that it might be an austere place, but, it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Lots of nice people!
