Ropes are placed around the tails, and then the dolphins are dragged to the killing area under the tarps. The second set of dolphins has now been pushed into the smaller netted area. Once the killing has started, we, far above them, can hear them thrashing trying to escape, but they are not in enough water to get away. Screaming starts. The thrashing is so loud it drowns out all the sounds from crashing waves. Even the yelling of the killers is muted. The screaming. Oh the screaming. OMG

How many feminists does it take to screw in a lightbulb? One. She stands there with the bulb in the socket and waits for the world to revolve around her.

Re: Japanese Dolphin Hunter Has Epiphany
It bothers me when whole countries, races and religions of people are painted with a wide brush.

I have quite a few Japanese friends, from Japan, because of a traditional Karate school I've belonged to since the early 80's. The teacher, Kancho, is from Japan. Students from the main dojo in Kyoto visit here frequently and the whaling and dolphin subject has come up. Not one of them in all these years supports the cruel practice(s) and some are actively involved in ending them.

These are a very respectful group of people that I'm proud to be friends with and to learn from. You can't judge a whole nation by the actions of a few. We would be in great trouble if that was done to us here in the US.

Thanks for the positive thread. (Since Fukushima here's been a lot of Japan bashing going on here.) Now we have to completely stop the dolphin slaughter. It's just plain cruel.

Fact; dolphins spend their whole lives eating, playing and having sex. And we think WE'RE the evolved species on this planet?

by "Japanese friends, from japan" I mean born there. Not Americans with japanese heritage.

Should have proof read first.

Four things necessary for our survival...
Biodiversity
Interdependence between species
Respect the law of FINITE(!) resources
Don't crap where you eat

I am not bashing the Japanese. I worked for a Japanese Company.. was the only American. It is complicated! Cultural Differences! Take cock fighting! It is a tradition in some countries. I am not going to attack people's Heritage!

Everything in moderation! Kill to survive but don't get greedy!

Yeah, we've had some really awkward times. Like when I went to my teacher's house for Obon, his wife prepared an awesome meal, I brought her a box of chocolates and got a really funny look. To them, the little pieces of chocolates represent little pieces of poo. They always use money for gifts. Just pass around envelopes at the dinner table. But a HUGE surprise to me was when I achieved a certain level after almost 10 years, he gave me a great Katana that I'll always cherish. Domo aragato guzi mashita...(sp?)
