Re: California Manhunt
...

Wrong. HE is responsible for what he did. Many people are pushed to the brink, for many different reasons. When no justice is left what is one to do?! Really?? One is to deal with it. Not go on a sociopathic rage filled murdering spree.
 Quoting: Little Willow

When is enough enough? When is there a breaking point?

Cops get to go around shooting and beating whoever and whatever they want for little to no reason at all with little to no repercussions.

They took a good man and made him a monster.

Keep in mind he is a soldier he was trained to kill. He was sanctioned to murder for the government and has likely already done so in patriotic service and is familiar with death. That being the case death no longer has the same weight it does for you or I.

You act like these cops are good people. They are not and are responsible for the death and suffering of many unjustly.

He discovered a big serious corruption problems first hand in the police department and it disillusioned him and ruined his life. You think it is all about himself and revenge? If so you are wrong. This is about bullshit that has been allowed to perpetuate and grow within our so called "peace keepers" service. There are very few good cops now and they keep their mouths shut and cover for the bad ones or they would lose their jobs and be a "no" cop just like this fellow.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8443185

Sad.

No,this isn't how normal people with a conscience handle things.
 Quoting: Little Willow

You still don't get it.

How do cops without a conscious handle things?

How far would you let them push you... how far would you let them push innocent people and when they are the law what are you going to do about it? there is no legal recourse. You are one of those people that just stand by and do nothing because doing something violate your so called conscious?

This is life and death. Dorner is defending his country.

You think I am condoning murder? at what point do you care enough about your country and your people that you are willing to die and kill for it? That is what is in this guy.... honor(soldier's honor) Very rare things these days and even rarer still to find it in someone capable of making a difference. Dorner is making a difference. The bigger mess this all becomes the more likely it will lead to policy changes and differences in how the police do their job. Perhaps more legal recourse against police brutality.

...and you are right he is not "normal". He is better then normal. Normal is to be a common sheeple. With a single layer "rule book" of morals you use and no sight of the bigger picture.

Re: California Manhunt
It's because the bird they're hunting can sing a whole opera, which could take down the LAPD's candy castle. You can tell from names/dates on his manifesto, he's been very good at documentation, even though he spelled Know "now" toward the end, I found him resonably literate.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27778286

*reasonably - consider yourself red-penned.

You also need to retype that "the bird they're hunting can sing a whole opera, which could take down the LAPD's candy castle" line. This time type in a James Cagney voice. It'll be awesomely film noir.

I believe we are seeing a very public psychological operation in play here. Do I believe this Dormer fellow has snapped and gone rogue? Yes indeedy.

LAPD's SIS are a group of very crafty cops who use improvization, deception, surveillance, top investigative skills and violence of action to capture or kill the worst criminals in their jurisdiction - from serial killers to bank robbery crews, to gangs, to... rogue former policemen working their way down a hit list.

Knowing as we do that it's likely Dormer suffers from some type of a pathological narcissism disorder, some creative editing of his letter may be a good way to make him surface. They are probably of the opinion that he will attempt to contact the media to "correct" his manifesto. They could be right, time will tell...

I believe that the recent announcement by the LAPD's Chief of Police that they would investigate Dormer's claims is a second attempt at flushing him out. They may expect the bad guy to make contact in order to clear his name or "testify" at an internal affairs inquiry. Obviously it's a ruse.

I get the feeling that this could be bigger than the Rodney King incident if it ends badly. By "ends badly", I mean if Dormer is taken into custody alive rather than killed in a shootout or by suicide. He will be a martyr whether he takes a .40 cal tylenol and goes down for the dirt nap with Baby Jesus or not, but he is able to inflict far less damage to his former police colleagues and their department if he's a dead martyr. If he survives and pleads "not guilty", it may become scary. In California there are precedents of "sure-thing" murder convictions resulting in acquittal. The famous OJ Simpson trial is just one example. That scenario would be an absolute nightmare for the City of Los Angeles.

It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34063643

I don't think he'll contact them even with the bait of clearing his name dangling out there. He knows it's a ruse. He's all too familiar with how they operate. I also have a feeling he may be far more capable and skilled than we've been led to believe.

The LA judicial circus has been reeling since they dropped the ball on OJ. He is correct that the slime from the days of Rodney King have made their way into upper brass, go figure.

I think we are seeing our first domestic terror perp. By choice or is it contrived? Remains to be seen. Maybe he drank too much Kool_Aid.

Seems to me like Dorner is an habitual loser. Maybe that's not his fault. We know from one of his purported manifestos that he's never been plugged into black culture and yet he suffered racism at school/work. There's a good chance that he didn't see himself as a black man (or a white/red/yellow man), just as a dude - an American. Yet, he was always hitting a wall, an undercurrent of having to prove himself. Accordingly he sought out opportunities to prove himself - first an attempted USMC enlistment but was rejected due to physical fitness issues. Then Naval OCS is appointed an Ensign in the US Navy. He washes out of basic flight school because he gets air sick and couldn't deal with the theoretical and physics side of things. Eventually he washes out as a cop.

To have a Sergeant riding with you as your training officer while you're a probationary officer means you're a fuckup. In the video that was released recently showing him in his LAPD training, he fucked up his weapons handling, both on the range and during the defensive tactics session. He talks about a negligent discharge in his "manifesto". The story behind this was that he shot himself while off duty with a personal weapon. Obviously it was a superficial wound, but it counted against him and could well have led to an administrative review and a training officer riding shotgun with him to make sure he didn't accidentally fire his issued service weapon.

I see a man who's been given or has taken every opportunity to succeed, but has failed at everything which has ever been important to him - through an actual inability to meet the demands, or due to an inability to focus and apply himself.

Not all of the material in this post has been publicly released yet, but it will be - then we'll see quite a different Christopher Dorner than the cop-killing, acronym throwing wannabe Navy commando we are being presented with at the moment. Use him as a symbol of resistance to a corrupt system if you like, but realize he's a paper tiger - essentially an habitual loser who blames everyone but himself.

Disagree. To the east of Big Bear, down off the mountain is a vast desert area, where 29 Palms and the Marine base are....lots of uninhabited area, lots of abandoned shacks. Through there is the back way to Las Vegas where his house is located. My guess is he knows that territory well. He would be a fool to stay any where near Big Bear.

Did you even read his manifesto? Assuming it's his, he has no intention of going out without a fight.

I read the manifesto before it got edited. It rang true to me and he considers himself already dead and has named all his targets. That he remains on the loose seems proof enough he has the abilities he claims.

And we hire someone like this to be a police officer, why?

How many other members of the force fit this same description, at this very moment? Is another Frank Wuterich manning the roadblocks?

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Frank Wuterich (born 1980) is a United States Marine. On November 19, 2005, he led his men in the Haditha killings, where he and fellow Marines opened fire, resulting in the death of 24 civilians, after a Marine had died in an insurgent attack

Leaving the stuff in San Diego was to throw them off thinking he was going south to Mexico.

Just like burning the truck in Big Bear made them think he is wondering around in the mountains.

I dont know about guns, but there are so many bullets. It looks like they used semi auto weapons and maybe reloaded? Is that an asenine observation? Seems like a lot for a regular gun.
 Quoting: BunnyGirl

Not sure what your knowledge base is with guns, but MOST guns are semi-automatic. Semi-automatic just means that every time you pull the trigger, it fires, until the clip is empty. Most handguns are semi automatic. ALL standard police issue guns are semi-auto. I don't know if perhaps you meant FULLY automatic?.....but yes....they were absolutely semi-automatic.
