Put a lion in a cage for years without food and watch what happens.
Its appetite will of cause grow and grow, and then you point your finger at its hunger?

Those are tapeworm segments that have dried.

You need to take care of that. They can get tapeworms from eating rodents with fleas or having fleas or from their mothers milk.

Having your cat dewormed at the vet isn't very expensive. Or you could call them and ask for something called "strongid", it's a dewormer that tastes like bananas that you can squirt into their mouth. Your vet might be able to just sell you a dose of it.

You might be able to get strongid online. I'm not sure. You might want to google it.

Whoa! Do not ever give a cat or a dog garlic. It's poisonous to them - they get something called haemolysis from that. It destroys the red blood cells. Same goes for onions by the way.

I heard mixing coconut flakes into the food once a month helps to keep worms away, but I don't know if that works if a pet is already infected. Better try a remedy, then try the coconut flakes thing a see if it works.

Re: any natural method of de-worming a cat?
OP, I did a quick search of "natural" tapeworm meds for cats and found a few sites.

[link to www.nativeremedies.com]
or
[link to www.ehow.com]

I've been involved in animal rescue and treatment for 20 years, and I personally am not a fan of natural "cures" and I've seen alot of bad situations as a result of people trying to use natural cures they found online or were suggested by well meaning people. The sites I posted above list some natural ways, but don't mention anything about how to give the herbs NOR does it mention dosage. Not good.

I'd suggest trying to get something from your vet, like the "strongid" I suggested. If you insist on using a natural cure please please use caution. Often you'll find websites (and people) touting "cures" which cause more harm than good.

Good luck!

this is how they treat farm animals for worms/parasites.

this will most likely work, can't say for certain as I've never done it myself.

Diatameous Earth. Just sprinkle a little spoonful on food with each meal, for a few days. It will do the trick.

Hit it in the head with a rock. The cover with lighter fluid and set on fire. Once the smoldering stops, your problem will be solved, the worms will be gone.

Be careful as i have heard that cats are usually hard to deworm as they get super infected. IE u can kill them easily on accident when trying to deworm them vs other animals that are hardier

Put a drop or two of cooking oil in dry food..every other day. Make sure the cat has fresh water too. Good luck. I usually take my pets to the vet if this does not work after one week.

Garlic does not kill pets...though for worming, food grade diatomaceous earth works much better. Garlic in humans and pets can cause anemia in high doses, but my dog loves garlic and he is twelve and has his whole life so simmer down snowflake.

Put 1/2 teaspoon of colloidal silver in the cats drink, milk, water. It will kill parasites, ect. Your cat will become very energenic, feeling free from these invaders.
Sold in health food stores.catdance Saybyekitty to parasites.
also the herb wormwood kills parasites, Taste realy nasty, but very effective, mix some in with the food. comes in tinchure form, powder and cut and sifted. tinchure should be made with water not alcohol,, unless your likes alcohol.

Garlic and Onions contain something called thiosulphate and yes it IS toxic, especially to cats and especially in raw form. It can also cause something called hemolytic anemia, which is also ultimately fatal.

While your anecdotal evidence about your dog ( in this cat thread) is interesting, I'll have to defer to medical facts in this case.

I would implore others to please do their own research when asking for advice online, especially medical advice for pets. I could go on with examples that range from people swearing that "my dog eats chocolate all the time and is fine", to people who swear that pouring motor oil on a dog with mange is a miracle cure...and it's not.

Garlic

You have to use a whole lot for it to be toxic..
Garlic is less toxic then onion but contains the same thing, thiosulphate. In small doses, garlic is actually good for pets. It promotes better circulation and repels fleas naturally.
How much onion would a cat have to eat to get anemic? (Remember, onion is plenty worse then garlic) A 12 lb cat would have to eat over 2.5 ounces of onion every day over several days to get anemic. How much would it have to eat to have a bad reaction in one day? A 12lb cat would have to eat between 10-14 ounces of onion to suffer toxic effects the same day.
That's why the small amounts aren't harmful..
A lot of high end foods contain garlic, that's why all of a sudden you're seeing the "Garlic is TOXIC!" articles.. Those are especially promoted by cheap foods that want to make the good foods look as bad as they are. Of course, they always leave out how much it would take and the fact that small amounts are beneficial.

What you should know.

Dont trust vets.....not for a minute...there worse than the medical community...if that is possible.. Colloidal silver,, your best bet. This actualy attaches silver ions to the parasite and smothers them to death. pretty amazing, works every time. Gave it to our yorky when the vet said she a month to live. Did the silver thing. She lived to be a ripe old age, no problems.
