The one year in prison, wow overboard. But this is nothing new. In parker Colorado the LEOs will pull over for being out in a blizzard, kinda like a dui/tr toying find narcotics on you. It's a blizzard, why in the shit are you out in it? Kinda thing.

Edit: most stores and food places are closed, no reason to be out

Actually yes they do. Source: I live in a cold, snowy fucking place in the U.S. and this storm is nothing. Big city? Sure they'll be looting in some places.

I have now signed an executive order banning vehicle traffic effective at 4:00 pm

this^^^^^ and get stuck too. so good neighbours can come out in the street and help ya, when the policy enforcers arrive, this way you got witness for any shinanigans that most likely will happen.

residents of this state would lock step

We need the awake Mass. folks to keep their eyes and ears open. This has a heavy stench on it... if you can't follow the money, follow the smell!

I think CT has a similar ban going on right now too

I lived in Boston for many years and lived through several storms as big as (or bigger) than this one

It's like they over-hype it before it happens, which justifies more control during the event

Yep, actually they do -- e.g., when I was living in NYC back in the 70's we had a bad blizzard. There was a supermarket down the block from where I lived that got looted during the storm. Even though the 47th police precinct was just a few blocks away, the police could not get there in time to stop the looting due to the snow...

I call bs on this one. It is not uncommon for the state to shut down roads when really bad storms come in. They did it in Illinois last year when that huge blizzard hit. Remember those scenes from Lake Shore Drive and the hundreds of cars/pedestrians stranded? Yeeeaah, that's what states don't want to deal with when weather shtf...trying to rescue fools that attempt to drive in blizzards.

whatever they tell you to do, or not do, you WILL comply. they know this, and are simply taking the piss. your freedom is toast. restriction will be the norm. obey.

i think they are just trying to keep the highways clear, at least along 91. Unconfirmed but ive been told some towns and cities arent enforcing it

I have lived through blizzards my whole life. Never looting going on, I can't understand the mindset of people these days. So much FEAR, when did we become such wimps?

Hey you guys, this happened in '78 martial law, no one on the roads period. It really helps. I was there is '78. More than 100 people died in that storm. So many of them were stuck... yup - on the roads! The rescue crews couldn't reach them.They died.

Just chill. They really don't want deaths again. It doesn't look like mutch, but believe me, it becomes so strong no one can keep up with it.

Just chill with a glass of wine, beer, soda pop, family friends.

Back then we lived one block from a supermarket and liquor store. Two days after the storm the liquor store was sold out.The grocery store sold out of bread and eggs! People walked every where. It was quiet and nice.

That's what I was thinking also.
We are officially a police state if they can impose
a driving ban (curfew) for a purported storm that might
hit at midnight to forbid you to drive at 4pm, on
penalty, according to the breathless anchors, of a one
year prison sentence.

Then they all jumped on board. NY, RI, Conn., and MA.
They said it with a straight face with 2 inches of slush on the ground and a few flurries in the air.

Whenever there's a storm like these and see how many people die because they were out or driving, I think it's sad but at the same time I feel it helps humanity because of the whole Darwin award thing. But then again, sometimes ambulance can't get by because a car in the way in the way.

I have mixed thoughts, they don't want people getting stuck. But at the same time they wanna see if they can control all 6 million people.

Also if we can't drive why plow right? The plow drivers got ocd they way they are plowing right now. I can't wait till later when it gets worst and they can't keep up with the snow.

For emergency vehicles. I pretty sure that was said in the article. Here in NY they're always telling people not to drive because when a car gets stuck ambulance can't get through, and a lot of people die because of that.

um perhaps it is because the state has declared a state of emergency. during a state of emergency it has always been illegal to drive on public roads during the emergency period. here in pa they often declare it before mega storms happen. only emergency vehicles are allowed out

They're trying to keep people from getting killed out on the roads, dumbasses! So the l;plows can do their work and the state troopers can do their jobs and the hospitals will stay empty hopefully. They don't need idiots getting killed and hurt left and right all because you forgot the milk! stay your ass at home! You don't need to do anything but stay at home and make sure you have plenty, stay warm, and safe! Common sense tells you to stock up when you have severe weather coming in like this, but for some reason you folks seem to think it's ok to put your life and everyone else's at risk because you decided to be a fool!

Just a little report from Mass. It is 7:12pm and we have exactly 3 inches on the ground here. The storm is not supposed to hit us until overnight. They are testing us to see how we will react. Martial law indeed.

This. And also where I live we have towing bans until the snow stops falling. Tow truck drivers and police die trying to help people so they stopped. You end up in a ditch you stay there and better hope you can walk somewhere or filled up on gas.
