What happened to music?

we hear what record labels want us to hear and market to us.

i would suggest seeking out independent artists. there are many many out there and a lot of them are very good.

great music to be had when it is not 'mainstream'

get an old non digital amp and turntable, find some old records, they are getting hard to find and getting more expensive, i did and just absolutely love it, real music

Guys, I'm talking about them being corporate sellouts. Most established well known 70s to 90s bands were as much sellouts as, as the guy above me stated Beyonce or Jay Z for instance. And still, the vibe you got from those bands is monumentally different than from what you have nowadays. It not just that songs were more joyous back then. Todays somber and graver songs seem more feigned and insincere as the ones in the olden. And honestly, while I am by no means an expert, I feel the same way when it comes to indie songs. There is just something lacking. I can't put my finger on what it is, but it is something that just went missing in the last decade.

Contemporary "pop" music is vile, and life-destroying.

I refuse to listen to it, and have my car radio permanently set to Classic FM.

Music is felt or what's the point? It is balm for the soul...

Interesting post above AC, but I would just say that they made a fortune off of selling anti-greed messages, and now they are so wealthy they have become complicity with the debt mongering elite which have enslaved us all. Ironic isn't it? To become enslaved by the very thing they were supposedly against?

I can't answer your question but I can tell you,during the sixty's a man and woman could slow dance together enjoying each others company,almost impossible today.

You can tell these new artists are just making music for the $$$$.
Thats why it feels void of any emotion. You can tell a band or artist is clearly making their product for money just by listening to it. Its like staring at a blank sheet of paper with glitter sprinkled on it just to catch your eye.

There are bands and music that give you chills up your spine or make the hairs on your arms stand up amongst goosebumps. This is because these bands work on their craft to be full of human emotion through the sounds and vibes created. These other new artists are trying to FIT IN to the current trends to simply make a dollar.

It will be a sad day when everyone has forgotten what real music was....

We had music class in elementary school in the fifties. Then many went on to band classes. Well, what is really comes down to, people today are drones, emotionless.

Love love love, kissing, hugging, holding hands, really want to see ya tonight, walking in the rain, kissing in the moonlight, cruising around with the one you loved in a nice car made of lots of steel, telling someone you loved them, lookin into their eyes, dreaming about them, hearing their voice, the joy they brought to your life, the happiness, the sunshine, the flowers from the fields, the feelings that you never ever knew before that were the most wonderful feelings ever and you didn't want those feeling to ever ever end, you never wanted them to go away ever, you wanted to be with them forever and ever or you would die without them, would be lost without their love, would wander through the streets the rest of your life searching for them cause they were the most wonderful beautiful most magical thing that ever ever happened to you, because you would not be able to eat sleep live without them, without their touch, without their smile, without their love and no one ever would be as wonderful as them even if you searched the whole world over, you would never ever find a love so precious, and birds would fly down from the sky every time they walked by, and you longed to be closed to them and you waited for the postman to bring a letter from them, that they would say they loved you also, forever and ever and ever-and you would get married, hava a family, buy a little house, in the country and the kids would be like you and he, as free as a dove, and even though they don't have money they were so in love with each other-----

The oldies stations arne't even playing the love songs lately. The love songs are disappearing. Tbtb don't want anyone in "love mode" - intentional imo

The stuff that's being played on the radio is not music, but that doesn't mean there's no real, meaningful music around anymore... you just need to spend more time looking for it.

If you dont have that time, listen to the old music you like. Nothing wrong about that. Music isn't more valuable just because it's new.
