with no threat of hell or consequence, humans will return to their savagery and lose morals. i guarantee it.

There isn't one verse in scripture that says Jesus

I just asked my 17 year old, and he answered, carpenter. We have never been religious and don't go to church.

If you're only moral because you fear consequence, you are a fraud.

As an Atheist I actually hold myself to a higher moral standard than the bible. You see, the bible says that rape is forgiven by paying the father of the victim a few silver bits. This is below my moral standards. I believe rape is wrong, no matter how you compensate the victim's family, and therefore the bible is not moral enough for me.

An Atheist develops morals and goodness because they legitimately believe in being a good person. There's no motivation there but the fact that being a good person is the right thing to do.

I'd trust a moral Atheist any day, over a Christian who would do evil were it not for the overlord in the sky watching his every move. I know the Atheist's morals are his, and are upheld for the right reasons, and not motivated by fear of reprisal or not getting into Heaven.

It's only when someone can be a good person, by their own decision, without fear of consequence, that the goodness is genuine.

Satan is the control freak who desires to take your free agency to choose, he carefully leads us down to hell.

We actively need to seek Christ in our thoughts, studies and our actions. Otherwise we are sliding into the natural man of lusts, being idol and actively feeding bad choices for short term pleasure.

Because Jesus is really nothing but the sun, light of the world, etc., they should have said that his occupation was to make the crops grow and give us a sunburn. I, for one, am glad that kids are not taught about this myth anymore. Why do you think the baby Jesus always has that big sun disc in the back of his head in all the images of him in the Vatican and other places? And those rays around his head, they should be a clue.

That 'answer' is not a matter of whether you are a Christian or not, it's a matter of how much you know.

The fact is, most Christians are depressingly nominal, and I am certain at least 30% of those who say they are Christians would not know Jesus was a 'carpenter'.

The Greek means something else though, and I suggest you find it out yourselves.

You're assuming that all three were Christian...that their parents were Christian....it's a big world out there, not everyone is Christian....

Okay, religion should not be taught in school. To many different religious backgrounds in the schools.

Religious belief is something each individual should work out for themselves.

Morals are not exclusive to christian households.

Not all parents have dropped the ball.
Parents that do not force their children to go to church still teach morals. The difference is the non-christian families teach morals for the sake of being good to others and yourself, not out of fear of going to hell for being bad.

Maybe their parents told them the jesus story was just another fairy tale character, no different than Peter Pan. And, another thing OP, the question was NOT put to them in the same way you portray it here, was it!!
