Now he has established the physics behind it and demonstrates it is possible with current tech, in fact, tech dating back to the 70's at least.

[ link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] The film the Matrix, which is taken from this authors book, was about a "computer agent" taking over the human body and remote controlling it. The A.I. may not have been very creative and combined elements of the classified goals of the project into its attack and this is the source of the books. Its also felt that this may have been used to provide cover for the project by turning it into fiction.
