SG - I read this before a few months ago. It's horrible. I can't remember if I read it on GLP or not. I read a story whereby a young woman survived it only because of this young doctor who thought of a cure for it and it worked.

I'll see if I can find it. I was horrified then. I'm horrified now. I've forgotten what the catalyst was. I'll research it.

GABA is necessary to normal psychiatric functioning.

The disorder is an autoimmune disorder. The body is targeting NMDA receptors -- believing they're foreign protein when, in fact, they are not. T-cells have been subverted/tricked into the attack.

NMDA receptors are putting out a foreign signal or T-cells have been duped into not recognizing 'self' messages from NMDA receptors.
