I was curious of the frequency of these type of tornadoes in February. Found some data suggesting that, although rare, they do occur this early in the year, with Mississippi recording the most in the past 60 years. I'd venture to say this was an F-2; Mississippi gets one per year on average. If F3 it would be a far more rare event. [ link to www.ustornadoes.com] Don't know Truth...when things settle down I will try to find an answer for you. But, I would venture to guess there have not been that many in Feb. For sure. our second long-track ef2-3+ storm already, and it's only february. if it keeps up like this we're in for a wild spring.
